Especially ones whose states have Democratic governors. Remember how, whenever a House Democrat resigned or died over the last several years, Republican governors steadfastly refused to authorize special elections to replace them, at times letting seats go vacant for over a year? Sauce for the goose and all that ...

Statewide, Democrats in Wisconsin won 51% of the votes. And 30% of the legislative seats.

There's a lot of work to do to fix America.

Apparently the GOP wants to raise the voting age to 21 in reaction to the election results :ohboy:

Not that I doubt the rot in the GOP and the lust for power for power's sake, but who exactly wants to change the voting age? A handful of people on social media, I imagine?

Ah, so you don’t have a reason then, other than you think politics is no different than sportsing. That’s exactly the kind of attitude that gave us Trump. And if he’d have handled the pandemic better, you more not have lost two of your jobs.

Think of how much better Republicans could have done this week had they not spent the last two and a half years letting COVID kill off their base.

One of the things that I haven't seen mentioned anywhere is the impact it would have on Manchin and Sinema if the dems hold on to Nevada and Georgia. :chris:

DeSantis and his pushing through a hyper gerrymandered map in Florida and Coumo appointing conservative judges to the State Supreme Court as political favors (who then blocked NYs gerrymandered map) plus just generally driving the party into the ground are gonna win the House for the Rs.

Cortez is likely to take the Senate seat in NV, she's down 1000 but there's 25,000 mail in votes left to tabulate in Clark county and so far those are breaking for her 2-1.

Warnock vs Walker is up in the air, could go either way, but looks like the Dems held the Senate, though they didn't get the +2 they needed to make Sinema and Manchin irrelevant.

This is going to be very important though when it comes to Federal judges.

There's over 80 vacancies, and 46 are in the senate now - 34 waiting for full senate vote, and 12 waiting for committee.

All 80 of those should be blue by the end of Biden's 1st term.

Warnock vs Walker is insane to watch as an outsider. FF will chip in with "But Fetterman!!" but Fetterman had a stroke, Walker chose a career that came with free brain damage AND his handlers had no proper response to the abortion stuff or his son slagging him off. This should not even be close, but right-wing Merka is not in any way sane.

So long as Frisch can keep the gap with that cunt Boebert at 0.5%, it will trigger an automatic recount.

And yes, I used the "c" word. I don't care who I offend. Boebert is fucking evil and needs to go away.

Well, all the dems would need in a pinch is one or the other, but not both if it goes to 51-49. Slightly better than 50/50...maybe :clyde:

If CCM wins I see Warnock winning as well.

It is one thing to hold your nose and pull the lever for Walker when the Senate/Judges are on the line. Quite another when it is meaningless.

I think 51 is better than 50. Sinema seems more socially and environmentally liberal just very much against taxing the super rich/corporations.

    Manchin seems the opposite.

    So could potentially triangulate.

Assuming anything can get past the House which who the fuck knows.

    Another thought:

Given how completely shitty the economy is, it's amazing how poorly the Republicans are doing in the midterms.

As long as the Speaker controls what gets a vote, nothing will get past the House.

The only questions are: 1) How many useless and irrelevant impeachments, 2) what gets defunded and 3) if we go off the debt ceiling cliff.

We know we are going to get endless House investigations of Hunter Biden and anything else they think they can use in 2024.

Not really. The economy is very much a mixed bag. The 2008 crisis was the real deal. The situation now is messy, but we're not on the verge of a depression. Recession? Possible, but those happen and they suck, but they're not an existential threat.

That's what the nutjobs would like. But, McCarthy or whoever gets chosen Speaker will have a bitch of a time getting anything done. As mentioned upthread, if the senate falls to the Dems, at least they will be able to get judicial and senior bureaucracy jobs filled.

WA03 called for Ds. Still need a clean sweep of AZ01, AZ06, CA13, CA22 and CA41 for the Ds to hold the House.
