Didn't Janeway #1 quit after, like, three days?

Most of the biggest Trip Tucker fans I know at TBBS tuned into ENT because they were SB and Quantum Leap fans. Many of them are quite vocal about their hatred of Archer.

That pretty says it all. :clyde:

The first actress signed to play Janeway, whose name I absolutely cannot remember but is very famous, did indeed back out sort of last-minute. I heard she was scared off by the possibility of weekly telelvision . . . she didn't want that kind of commitment, since it would have stopped her making movies.

Genevieve Bujold was the first Janeway.

Her scenes that she shot for the series premier were included on one of the Voyager DVDs.

She didn't like how she was told to play the role reportedly.

    Yes! Genevieve Bujold! Thanks, Dayton.

Like I said, I heard she was scared off by the prospect of being committed to a weekly series and all the work that entailed.

TATV does. LHWIWS comes close, though.

I felt like giving "Year of Hell" a chance when it was on I think about a week ago or so. I didn't even find it that exciting or memorable, (and in the end it actually made me a little irritated because it seemed like a really lame attempt from the writers to give us a little taste of what Voyager could've been had it not only been allowed by the studio to use its original premise, but also had a better writing staff) and if that's really one of the best episodes that Voyager ever cranked out, I don't think I'll even bother on any future episodes.

She was also terrible with the role. The official reason for her leaving after 2 or 3 days of shooting, was that she didn't want to commit to a semi-weekly TV show. There's also rumors that B&B were unsatisfied with her performance and she didn't have the right chemistry with the other cast members.

They made a good choice in getting rid of her, but they did have to reshoot a bunch of stuff because of it. They even had to rebuild the underground Ocampan city because Kate Mulgrew had the wrong hairstyle. Mismanagement/rushed filming. Still, a great pilot.

Another plus of Voyager that I noticed today, is that Kevin Ug Lee from 'Salute Your Shorts' guests stars as 7 of 9's dad.

    Oh, Ug...

Hard to have the "right" chemistry when there's none to be found . . .

    Yeah, I saw the cuts.

She was absolutely awful in the role. Janeway's character was really up and down, but I always like Kate Mulgrew. If only they hadn't let her pitch her version of Endgame!

Given how consistent the writers were with Janeway's character, that would only have been a problem for a couple of weeks, surely? :garamet:

I saw this old thread of mine and I seem to remember that someone suggested in the Discovery thread that the entire second season of Discovery did not happen ?

Since I only saw the Season Two premier episode I was wondering if anyone could tell me if this is true or not? Has any Trek series ever "reset" an entire season before?

I loved Quantum Leap as a child because of Sam and Al and I couldn’t stand Archer.

This is 12 years old but fuck that.

TATV was by any measure a shitty finale. Shit to ENT, shit to TNG, shit as the season 4 finale Rick Berman claims this was going to be the whole time but no one believes him on.

"....Without Sin" OTOH is straight up incel propaganda. Seriously, Worf spends the first part griping that his GF had a sexual past that didn't include him; spends another part grousing at everyone having fun; decided to pitch in with the terrorist to sabotage the weather grid and then cry about his Sad Childhood made him this way...please. B'Elanna was just as split between her two cultures as he was and she wouldn't fuck up Voyager's holodecks just because Tom firlted too much with one of the Delaney sisters.

I'd go so far as to call it the single worst episode in the entire Star Trek canon. Straight up. None of the progressive values were there at all. It hasn't aged well at all

That opens up a whole discussion about where the line is between incel ideology (such as it is) and traditional monogamist pairings vs contemporary individualism within groups (such as that is).

We've spent the last 2000+ years turning relationships into contracts, and, to a great degree, women into dependents. How does any of that make sense in an advanced society? In a world of gender parity/equality (and presuming a simple dichotomy for the sake of brevity) women have the freedom to be as proactive as men when it comes to mating.
