I been watching every day on Spike. The haters can kiss my butt. This series is really good. I love most of the stories. I'm glad its back on. Let the war begin!!!
Its not actually the characters but the stories. Personally I don't have any real love for any of them. I give Neelix props. Sometimes that guy can be a real slick dude.
People hated it because it was essentially TNG without any of the interesting characters and more shipper shit. Which would've been fine and dandy, had Deep Space Nine, not come through and utterly smashed our notions of what makes for good "Star Trek".
No. Sometimes he's a jerk but when he's serious its good stuff. Back when the show was new people sure ripped into Voyager. But now that I'm seeing it again I still give it thumbs up!
DS9. YES!! My other favorite but I like it better with out the long running arc concerning the war and the Bajorans.
I didn't mind it, so much...it's just that, like in ENT, the idea of a damn turbolift just didn't work, for me, among other crap like that. Those ships just weren't that damn big.
Some of it was okay. Maybe 40 or so episodes out of the lot were keepers. Can't say I really care for any of the characters though. Kes was getting sort of interesting but then she got tossed overboard.
Yeah, I really dug the Doc, and Kes, and yeah, even Neelix. When I think of the rep Voy gets for dull characters, for me, it mostly comes from Chakotay and Kim. And sadly, Paris and B'lanna, who could have been so much more. I'm about in-between on Tuvok.

Argh....I've been seeing some of it on Spike too and every now and then there are alright ones on. But yeah, the stories are the only interesting things and half the time I'd seen them 7 years earlier on TNG season 1.
characters stolen from TOS, storylines from stolen from the back of a truck... VOY was about 2% brilliant, 20% good, 5% truly terrible and the rest was a study in mediocrity
It's definitely better than I remembered. My problem was I was so frustrated with the ending - season 7 should have been entirely about getting home, at least have a 3 or 4 episode arc to finish the series. Instead we get nothing, nothing, nothing, then Endgame - which I would have preferred more nothing. But some of the individual episodes were excellent, and overall it's pretty enjoyable now that I know I'll hate the last ep. Oh, the novel Homecoming did a good job of what I wanted to see at the end, and gave you some interesting stuff about the crew when they got home. I recommend it. Not great, but very solid and quite entertaining, exploring a lot of the themes they should have at the end of Voyager.
TNG had interesting characters? TNG was the Data/Picard variety hour, with special guests Beardy, Blindy, Bitchy, Borf, and Underused Empath. The first 5 seasons of VOY was the Janeway/Doctor variety hour, with special guests Redskin, Negro-Vulcan, Teddy Bear Cook, Hybrid Tinkerer, and Tits McGee. The last two seasons of VOY had Tits McGee billed as co-star. VOY was exactly like TNG in every way, except VOY had a great first two seasons, thanks to TNG.
She was waaaaaaay overused. I don't care how one chocolate truffle sends Booby into a spiral of addiction and murder. Besides. I liked Borf.
I liked him too. I even liked him when they called him Tuvok. (they cast two black dudes for Security officers, for chrissake)
Over the years, I recall reading and hearing over and over again that "Year of Hell" was supposedly one of the finest examples of Voyager. And I watched it about a month ago on Spike. And I was completely left scratching my head thinking: "This is really one of the best episodes from the series?" It seemed to me to be about as engaging as a late TNG two-parter. I got the exact opposite reaction from DS9 - I'm sort of kicking myself now for not sticking with the series past the first season, but a few years back it was quite a ride being able to watch it on DVD in such a rapid-fire fashion.
DS9 was hands down the best series. I was turned off by some of the season 1 episodes, but looking back, episodes like "Move Along Home" were Emmy material. I mean, aliens with mullets! (but seriously, DS9 is the best Trek ever, and they developed all of their characters, even those who were only in a handful of episodes)
