One of the quickest, straight to the point "theme songs" was the one used in The Black Donnellys: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYmdisPxYOg 9 seconds long, no bullshitting around.
Another great theme I remembered: WONDER WOMAN! (And I prefer the WWII-era one, rather than the re-vamped modern version.)
^ Agreed. Knightrider was the nuts. But then I remember Johnny Ball's Think Again - that was fantastic stuff
Where the hell is the theme from the A-Team? If you have a problem, and no on else can help..... and you can find them.... maybe you can hire..... THE A-TEAM! doodle doodle doodle doodle DAH DE DUH DAAAAAAAH, dun dunn dunnnnnnnn...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMjmyv1rNJ8 edit: oops... there it is, at number 46. Hmph. Should be waaaaaaay higher on the list, IMO Monty Python's Flying Circus? is this list only for American TV shows? The march music... the weird animation.... the fart noise at the end. Priceless. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhtTFKuzHvw And I feel that Knight Rider got snubbed. My sister used to love that show. So I downloaded it as a ringtone (i know, i'm a mobile phone company's wet dream), and now it's her ring, so I get a little rush of nostalgia whenever she calls. And they really should have expanded the list to include cartoons, because the Jetsons theme song belongs there. As does the Flintstones' song and Scooby Doo.
CHEERS gets extremely annoying when you watch 10 episodes in one evening Personally I like the rock intro BECKER had. SCRUBS is very good too. Good song, good version.
I'm going to use this thread as an excuse to get all nostalgic for my favourite 80's cartoon themes [yt="MMM.A.S.K"]M0BzBFWt8V8[/yt] [yt=""]zvpFbruLSis[/yt] [yt="Epic stuff"]A1c1G24GWDg[/yt] And [yt="The Daddy"]4annwQFc9nw[/yt] I feel so bloody old now
Jamie and the Magic Torch, bitches!!! Jaaaayyyymmaaahhh! Jaaaaayyyymmaaaahhh! Jamie and the Magic Torch! Down the helter-skelter Faster and faster Towards Cuckooland!!
The Muppet Show should have been #1 IMHO. [yt="Muppets"]Y9_YBRQJ2LU[/yt] [yt="mna, mna"]YevYBsShxNs[/yt]
I loved Voltron. Can I get some love for Voltron? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1FaLY94dYVA And who could forget....Jem! Jem, Jee-eeeem is truly outrageous.... Truly, truly, truly outrageous.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20BZID081Vk My little sister had the Jem doll. I was truly truly truly envious.
Hmmm...If we're doing Intros To Obscure Cartoons... After due consideration, my top...ever how far I get..... 1. The Mary Tyler Moore Show - Turning them all over in my mind, this is simply the best all around example of being both a quality peice of music and doing exactly what a theme should to present the show. 2. The Rockford Files - Best instramental, IMO. Perfectly embodies the sort of show it introduced. 3. Hawaii Five-O - Edges out MI for the best action show theme, IMO 4. The Muppet Show - Can't beat this for sheer fun. 5. Moonlighting - Maybe showing my bias towards the show here but this was just a damn good song in it's own right. 6. M*A*S*H - Only the peppier bit at the end drags this down so far for me. 7. The Addams Family - speaking of fun... 8. The Waltons - Again, if one of the qualifiers is that it perfectly embodies the show, while still being solid music...can't go wrong here. 9. Hogan's eroes - Still can't figure how you can list fifty and not include this one. 10. Dallas - Duh. 11. WKRP in Cincinati - considerably better than many on the list. 12. Cheers - I liked it and all but it's not #1 13. Mission Impossible - Perfect for what it intends to do. 14. Dr Who - Got to love this if you are a geek. 15. Sanford and Son - Great stuff. 16. Miami Vice - Again, perfectly defined the show. 17. Hill Street Blues - Classic. 18. The Andy Griffith Show - It works. 19. Firefly - Yeah, i'm biased - so? 20. Johnny Yuma - Can't get out of the top 20 without Cash just on general principle.
^ [yt="Canada's Most Popular TV Program?"]PINxfouNQFw[/yt] I was looking for the theme of another specific Canadian TV program, but I don't think Canadians have quite figured out how to use YouTube, IMO!
excluding cartoons, here goes 1. MASH(anyone know the name of that song? I do) 2. Cheers 3. Perry Mason---absolutely chilling 4. The Midnight Special(hey Im a big Guess Who fan) 5. hawaii Five-0 6. Hogan's Heroes 7. Soul Train 8. SWAT 9. Welcome Back, Kotter 10. WKRP in Cincinnati 11. Night Court 12. All In The Family 13. Good Times 14. Dukes Of Hzzard(Waylon rep) 15. The Rebel-Johnny Yuma(Cash rep) 16. The old Dean Martin variety show(I have several roasts on DVD) 17. The Tonight Show(made Paul Anka richer) 18. The Lone Ranger(Glen Campbell can play this on a guitar, talk about unfair) 19. Batman(I know it was awful, but it sticks with you) 20. Hill Street Blues--very classy Honorable mentions to the Rockford Files and Good Times
Couple that I didn't notice mentioned: Loved the instrumental from Simon and Simon after the 2nd season. Dukes of Hazard - silly show, great song. Get Smart Hardcastle and McCormack's Drive. Good Times The Incredible Hulk Six Million Dollar Man Peter Gunn - of course, I would have never have heard it if it wasn't for Spy Hunter! Others I agree with: Greatest American Hero. The Adams Family, natch. Doctor Who. Hogan's Heroes, I agree totally there. Rockford Files Hill Street Blues Battlestar Galactica - maybe the all time best Buck Rogers - the TV version, not the gay as hell movie version. Absolute Worst - gotta be the Facts of Life. When my wife wants to mess with me, she starts humming that, and it comes back unbidden destroying all thought and peace. Edit - Oh, and the Twilight Zone! That has to be top five!
