Leaving out "Red Dwarf" which is geared toward comedy what do you think are the funniest regular science fiction series? Star Trek the Original Series had lots of humorous moments. But I think StarGate SG:1 is by far the funniest with loads of one liners and in jokes. Generally by Richard Dean Anderson.
Quark was supposed to be a comedy sci-fi show. Sometimes it really was. Really, most of the time it was; parody was its strong point. But there was only so much it could parody and then it got stale.
As soon as I saw the thread title, I thought 'The Stainless Steel Rat', and the fact that everyone else is talking about TV does not make me change my mind one bit!
Ohhh yeah, the Rat is right up there with Hitchiker's Guide when it comes to funny Galaxy Quest was definitely the funniest movie.
Doctor Who makes me laugh out loud on occasion, but a lot of the jokes are geared to the British audience as cultural references.
I found Tom Baker's Doctor Who pretty funny. Others such as Pertwee's interpretation of the character seemed considerably more serious.
Firefly makes me laugh all over the place Especially Jayne. Its definitely the second funniest behind red dwarf
Yeah, there was a fair amount of humour in the classic series, but I'm specifically on about the relaunch.
For me: A three way tie between "Star Trek" (The Original Series)/ "Firefly"/ and "Red Dwarf" (I don't think it should be left out). I never have gotten tired of those shows. As for some of the other shows-- "Stargate:SG1" (something about that showed never clicked with me). "Futurama" (it's a funny show, don't get me wrong, but I could never watch a marathon of it, don't know why). "Babylon 5" (too sanctimonious for my taste, and I'm a full-blooded TNGer!) (EDIT: Sorry, I misread the post. I thought it was said funnest show. In that case, my list still stands as funniest as well. There's a correlation, I think)
Whoa! You're a die-hard TNGer, and you think Babylon 5 is too sanctimonius? Did you ever, y'know, listen to Picard?
What can I say? I am a bit biased. I've found JMS's jabs at TNG a bit offputting, so that it may have tainted my view of B5--and that's not really fair, I admit. Trek (particularly TNG) saved my life when I was in a very bad place in my life. I've always found Picard's words inspiring. But yeah, the dude practically carried a soapbox wherever he went.
Didn't know JMS made any jabs at TNG, DS9, that I can believe, both camps (at the producer level at least) acted like asses on that one.
i had a star trek: blackadder sketch in my head once, with captain edmund blackadder saying just what he thought about picard
had a hard time trying to watch lexx. can't put my finger on what was wrong with it (to me) - just couldn't watch it.
Maybe that it was just way too friggin' bizarre to take in week after week? That's what it was with me. I wanted to like the show, and I basically did, but I just couldn't take it in in the quantity they were dishing it out.
