I was thinking of the grocery stores in the area. Food is something that can't be sent in the mail.

^Not that I'm a fan of Wal-Mart, but in this instance gift cards for Wal-Mart would cover a lot of things - groceries, clothes, pharmacy stuff.

You know, there are these things called "food stamps" that they can apply for. You can get quite a bit in food stamps, especially when you have minor children.

Not intended in any way as a defense of Flashlight, but . . .

I think there may turn out to be a point via object lesson . . . just not the one he thinks there is. ;)

What do you think the average wait time is for food stamps, and we'll assume all of the paperwork is in order?

You'd think a "lawyer/therapist" would have some clue about how social support networks function, wouldn't you? :jayzus:

That's what is the most troubling to me. This man actually has a rapport with people in what he's led us to be believed as someone with actual power over peoples lives.

    That's fucking scary.

His hatred for Shep shines like a black light on a cotton shirt. :jayzus:

Shep has thouroughly and earnestly pwned him.

Not going to go into my own sob story, but take my word on it, less than a week.
Hope all goes well for you Shep. Don't like you much, but being homeless is something I would wish on no one, not even Flashy.

You are right. Stamps happen pretty fast here and, atm, food is no worry.

As to Face's question. Of course we are littered with Wal-Marts. there's a Target in memphis, there are Circit City's and Best Buy's around (Tupelo at least) and Penny's, Sears,.....you could Google up the info for "The Mall at Barnes Crossing" in tupelo and find out what chain stores might be both here and where you live.

You guys are great but I have to admit - and maybe it's just letting flashy know too much to say this - it's begining to feel to me like providing the info is "working" this thing.

I'm hoping none of you besided the idiot see it this way but please know i'm embrassed to even be just throwing this stuff out so businesslike. i know you need the info but it isn't the most comfortable thing.

You guys are really impressive though.

Unfortunately I'm not in a position to contribute at the moment as I'm dealing with some other financial situations and things are tight. But Shep, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I sincerely hope things work out for you soon.

Maybe things just suck in Ohio.
When I had to get food stamps, it took well over a week. It took a few weeks just for them to get the paperwork in order and get me the DirectionCard. I guess it varies from state to state.

OK. Someone post the link. I hate PayPal, and any time I use it is a chore, so please someone make it as easy as possible for me.

(Edited after looking through the closet...)

I have some shirts and pants that don't quite fit me (for the most part, either too tight in the waist or too short in the sleeves) but that are still in good condition. Bear, if you send me your info I'll get them in the mail as soon as I can.

Not yet. Trust me, I hate that it's taking this long. I really and truly do, but we're trying to safeguard everyone and make damn sure that the money gets to the right people.

Will do tonight before I leave. then it will be good from my end. I had to upgrade to the next level to get away from some of pay-pal's limits but I am not aware of a more convenient way except the gift card idea.

To those who ask how things were going - the primary issue right now is the red tape involved in the place we want to move in to . it's looking now like it will be at least another week before we can even begin to do that, which means a week in a motel and the cost involved in that sort of suitcase living. Other than that, things are reasonably tolerable in terms of what we MUSt do NOW.

Oh, and as if we didn't have an interesting enough week, my wife severly sprained her foot yesterday as we left the library and is on crutches for at least the weekend.

    :(

    (she says *grumblegrumblegrumble*)

One update on the sizes. someone bought my oldest a pair of jeans that were 30 in the waist and he can't wear them so update his size to 32/32

Just noticed and read through this whole thread......... SHIT!

Sorry to hear about that shep. I'll put something in the paypal in the next couple of days.

As to flashite, I understand his stance of not wanting to 'jump on the love shep express', and to be honest thats fair enough if its the guys opinion. But, whats the point in keeping coming back to the thread and shitting all over it. Why not just stay silent??

Like you have room to talk about "small minded, myopic bigots". Your hate-filled diatribes beat anything anyone has ever posted here.

But I can't hate you because you are simply not worth it and you are what you are- a poor excuse for a human being. I'll pity you instead and feel sorry for any family that might be unfortunate enough to claim you.

I feel so sorry for you and your miserable little existence.

I plan to help out as I can, finances permitting (which they aren't right now...:( )

This coming week is a three day school week (fall break). If anyone wants to send Bear and I something for Shadow we could easily get it to him on Thursday or Friday. We won't have to wait for the weekend.

The following week will be a booger. I have parent/teacher conferences one night and Open House another night. What stupid planning! Why have both in the same week, let alone having open house 10 weeks into the school year!

I'm on fall break right now (Monday and Tuesday)

We just had parent/teacher conferences. The conferences were good for me---right when we were packing up to go at 8:00 pm a parent came in who I really needed to see. I let him know about his son's behavior in my class. The next morning the student came in before school and apologized. His behavior was much better yesterday. :)

Open house in week 10?

I'm confused. Could someone just post a link or tell me what I need to do? Do I need to send an e-mail to an account? Why can't I just PM? For that matter, why can't someone just 'splain what I need to do. I hate PayPal and only use it when I absolutely have to.
