Log in to your PayPal account (c'mon, be brave), hit the "Send Money" tab, type in the email address above and the amount you want to send, and send it.

So easy a caveman can do it.

I have to set up my paypal account. It takes 5-9 days days to verify by their method of putting 2 small direct debits into my account which i then verify with them.
Is there a quicker way to set paypal up?

Bastards have a hold on my account (as mentioned in Storm's thread) - apparently the smell neferious dealings or some such bullshit.

They want me to do several things to prove legitimacy and some don't even apply.

to add insult to injury, they are rejecting my SS number (did I enter it wrong when I set up the account?) and they want me to confirm deposits that have not posted to my bank account yet (5-9 DAYS Dan? YIKES! That's BS)

    *sigh*

I would think most people here would have the ability to do direct bank deposit. It's a bit more work than Paypal but if it looks like they are going to draw this out it would probably be best.

They told me the same thing when I signed up, but they did let me send money right away, and once I had, they accepted as verification the fact that I just had sent money, instead of the small direct debits process.

    You don't have to verify.

Mine was a done deal in 10 minutes, starting with not having an account and ending with the money well on it's way to Shep.

I'm the one who broke it. :sob:

My best guess is that it's because I posted it from India. I'm going to try to get in touch with PayPal as well and see if I can break it loose.

Okay, I just got off the line with PayPal and here's the scoop...

I created an account and made a donation on PayPal last night. PayPal noticed that the IP address was in India and a red flag went up, so they froze everything.

Unfortunately, I can't fix my account from where I'm at. I have to return to the U.S. and change my security questions from there. Until then (and that's about five days from now), my donation won't go through. That's the bad news.

The good news is that the agent at PayPal says that once Shep's cleared any questions they have of him, donations will once again be accepted.

    [reposted from other thread]

    Okay,

    three items left:

    1. confirm bank account - which I can't do until their deposits post

    2. confirm location - this is done by attaching a credit card to the account. I could not do this until my most recent payment posts which should be in a day or two.

    3. Confirm social security number - which it is refusing to do and I don't know how to resolve without talking to someone at PP on the phone.

That third one in particular is pissing me off.

just for those as frusterated as I, I will say again that for all but a VERY few here, I have little hesitation in giving you the account with my name on it via PM. It's not very nice of me to hide my name when you have to reveal yours to give.

If it wasn't for the potential for a real life troll i'd put it out in the open.

If I happen not to be on, Elwood, Tamar, and Phantom (and now Lanzy and a couple of others) have it andthey are all wise enough to know who not to give it to - I trust their judgement.

I can't get a fix on it. It seems to vary with the size and origin of the gift.

    Edit:

Seems to be something on the order of 3%

    Shep,

I'm putting a box in the mail to Bear tomorrow with some clothes that I hope will fit your oldest. That is, they'll fit if he's a little bit thinner than I am and has slightly shorter arms. If not, I guess you can always donate them to the Salvation Army.

Since there was room to squeeze a little more into the box, and since I figure scouring the library for entertainment probably isn't at the top of your priority list right now, I put in a little escapist literature as well. And by "literature," I mean Tom Clancy and Star Trek. :D

I haven't had a chance to send anything (Can't find time to get to Wal Mart!), and I don't think there's much I can do. I might just end up sending cash. I just gotta figure out when I can do that.

A reminder: The trip down to Shep's is this weekend, so if you're going to send something, send it NOW. Mail is kinda slow, so make sure it's here by Friday.
