Have you never seen Star Wars and Firefly? Rednecks will thrive in space. :storm:

    Once we have warp, yes.

In the meantime, sacrifices will have to be made.

    Power.

Will new rednecks be trained, or will we freeze rednecks to be thawed at a later date?

There'll be no need for petty bigotries and jealousies so there'll be no rednecks.

You can't blame Hanna-Barbera for the racist policies of the felt-tip companies.

Actually in my world there'd be no race or gender. We'd all be blue people who could reprduce by budding. but that's not for this particulkar thread. individuality would be intact and wouldn't be frowned upon.

That would get rid of much of the world's problems.

    Hmm, frozen, yes.
I like the image it conjures.

Big fat dude in flannel with a big belt buckle in an ice cube.

Frozen plate of chicken fried bacon waiting for him.

    Remember this as you decide...

Superman once decided to save us from ourselves by getting rid of all the nuclear weapons in the world.

The results were the worst goddamn fucking piece of shit movie I've ever exposed my eyes to.

    There's always a downside.

    Why would it?

People are going to starve? You already have the magic cure for starvation in this hypothetical.

Yes. Because it would fix the problem of Humanity being shit.

No. Because it would fix the problem of Humanity being shit.

Depends on HOW they would be saving Humanity.

A completely perfect world would make for a boring place.

I think humanity needs some strife to challenge itself.

Yeah, I'd try and do some good... but it wouldn't last long, humans being what they are.

As soon as my influence waned or died, you could kiss world peace goodbye.

If you're talking about imminent total extinction of the species then, yeah, I'd definitely do something. We're probably worth saving even if doesn't often seem that way.

"Did you know that the first Matrix was designed to be a perfect human world? Where none suffered, where everyone would be happy. It was a disaster. No one would accept the program. Entire crops were lost. Some believed we lacked the programming language to describe your perfect world. But I believe that, as a species, human beings define their reality through suffering and misery. The perfect world was a dream that your primitive cerebrum kept trying to wake up from. Which is why the Matrix was redesigned to this: the peak of your civilization. "

    Yeah, I'd probably do it.

But I'd tell everybody I did it and I'd expect a big fuckin' reward. :garamet:

There's always some dark secret to a utopia.

There's always some price to pay.

Oh sure I'm looking to be crucified.

No thanks. Satisfying all of those goals means ending humanity. We will never be able to create utopia without giving up what it means to be human.

Meh, I'll leave such affairs to Bruce Willis and Morgan Freeman.

I wouldn't encourage anybody to save humanity by ending it.

Basically our existence isn't a problem to be solved, it's an ongoing attempt to adapt.
