Diana Rigg played Mrs. Emma Peel, on The Avengers, in 51 episodes, beginning in 1965. Mrs. Peel's husband, an explorer, was lost, and presumed to be dead. Then, at the end of one episode, he was found and he returned to England. Mrs. Peel said good-bye to Steed, and left The Avengers. You don't forget something like that.
