Video games cause violent behavior

I know this thread is old but I have to respond. I have read 100s of books. Voyager novels make up a very small portion of what I have read over the years.

I've read all of Stephen King, Peter Straub, Scott Turow, Michael Crichton, Mario Puzo, Jeffery Deaver, E. L. Doctorow, Anne Rice, Clive Barker, and may other authors.

And here some bait for you..All of William Shatner and Margaret Bonnano.

I know one thing. I have watched some pretty violent movies and played some pretty violent games but have never killed anybody. I look at pornography DAILY and Ive never raped anybody. I do agree with Albert on this one. YOU must take responsibilty for YOUR actions. Its just like when they took corporel punishment out of the schools, now the are wondering kids are so wild. In every society you must have a deterrent to bad behavior. Unfortunatley, ultra liberals dont believe that

there is a differnce in abuse and disipline. Were you spanked as a child? Or even as an adult?

The error here is more subtle than that. Equating correlation and causation is one part of the error, of course, but the underlying error is assuming that 'A' correlates with 'B' and 'B' correlates with 'C' implies that 'A' correlates with 'C.' Correlation is not transitive. Video games causing emotional reactions and emotional reactions correlating with violent behavior doesn't even show that video games correlate with violence, so there's no there there even before you get to the fallacy of equating correlation and causation.

I got a few spanking as a child. I went to catholic school so I got the ruler on the knuckles treatment and straight up slaps in the face.

I certainly don't want that for my kid. And one or two of those teachers later had mental breakdowns. So they were half psycho while teaching.

Yeah, after they taught Mewa they had breakdowns.

this stupid argument just never goes away. But as I don't have kids am I even allowed to comment? I have played many a game with violent content. Right now I'm killing my way thru Assassin's Creed. I do not expect to be a paid assassin any time soon. But I do loves me the killin.

This argument is ridiculous. Are you telling me that because I went home from work early last night at six and played Call of Duty 3 that I hate Germans and am violent?

i think some of those against video games just didn't like losing when they were kids
