One Nedersong begins discussing "prejudism" :wtf: :
    http://www.trekbbs.com/showpost.php?p=2009129&postcount=22
I express my confusion over the word in my usual less-than-serious manner:
    http://www.trekbbs.com/showpost.php?p=2009669&postcount=24
He replies in a less-than-sane manner:
    http://www.trekbbs.com/showpost.php?p=2009884&postcount=25
    I clarify:
    http://www.trekbbs.com/showpost.php?p=2010546&postcount=26
He loses it in a most amusing fashion:
    http://www.trekbbs.com/showpost.php?p=2012557&postcount=27
I question his analysis and provide evidence:
    http://www.trekbbs.com/showpost.php?p=2012841&postcount=29
He makes the lamest possible excuse:
    http://www.trekbbs.com/showpost.php?p=2013383&postcount=32
At which point Bonzi rightly told us to put a lid on it.

So his excuse for using the only word in his entire string of posts that isn't even a real word, is that he's mildly dislexic? Hell, so am I! It's no excuse for using a word that isn't really a word.

Maybe I've been on bboards too long, but after 15 years I can no longer sit by and let people make themselves look like idiots by using stupid misspellings, incorrect hominyms, idiotic grammar, and words that don't exist! I can't! I CAN'T!!!

It's the age of communications, people, communicate right!

    :)

    I swear Nedersong is Enterpriser.
I've had that vibe since day one.

Enterpriser never talked about his personal relationships though.

    Ezzactly.

I was surprised to find that it seems to be a common mistake. I googled the word just to make sure it wasn't simpley a word I'd never heard before, and I found lots of entries for it. Most of them were pointing out that it wasn't a word :).

This guy's post was the first time I'd ever seen it.

After hearing the word "prejudice" pounded into my head almost every day on the news since 1964ish, I really can't imagine how anyone could NOT know it's the correct word.

A common mistake? Seriously? I'm surprised, though I guess I shouldn't be. But we all hear something about it everyday and you'd think people would catch on. I mean really.....

The only thing that occurs to me is that maybe he/she is fairly young, not very well educated, and extrapolated incorrectly from racism/ageism/sexism...
    Possible.

Oh, and if he/she thinks THAT was being a grammar nazi, he/she should swing around here. :diablo: After all, you didn't even pick him up on 'grammer'. Plenty of us would have... :soholy:

I didn't want to seem like I was picking on him. He got plenty of typos when he lost his temper, I just let it slide.

It's one of the things I love about Wordforge.

It's a rare BBS where you can go and learn something. I adore the fact that people who talk in retardo internet shorthand are not tolerated long...they learn to write like a semi-intelligent person or get buried in insults and neg rep until they knock it off.

    i h8 dis shitz. it g8s on me!!11!!11 :bash:

I like how he had not problem with transposing letters until immediately after he threw out the dyslexia excuse....

    ...unless I missed it.

Want to drive him really nuts? Point out that "phenomena" is the plural of "phenomenon."

It was also a Muppets song!

    Phenomena
    Doo dooo doodoodoo

    Phenomena
    Doo doo-doo doo

    :D

Just to make sure, I mentioned "prejudism" to my supervisor, who's been our department's official QA person and main proofreader, with all the appropriate degrees and reference books, for the 27 years I've been there. She did this: :wtf:

"Muppets Tonight" was a pale shadow of "The Muppet Show", but still...

One time they had a bit with Sandra Bullock, where they keep saying "Phenomenon". And pretty soon some Muppets creep into frame going "beep-bee-be-diddy..." It was pretty

I think she was talking about the L33t speak?

Which now reminds me. I showed this site to my SO but he didn't seem to find it as funny as I did. *shrug*

In the thread under discussing (at TBBS), Bonzi told us to drop the argument or warnings would fly.

    No, it's not required.

But you do need high tolerance for heavy-handed moderation and utterly clueless advertising.

Which was the BBS with the TNZ?

All I can find is trek forums and other mindless crap at TBBS and none of it would compliment my usual antics.

IIRC you have to request access to the TNZ.
