Who else is watching this. I haven't yet, but I am s sucker for anything vampire related, and I am downloading the first three episodes as I type this. If you've seen it, what is your impression of the show?
I'm two or three back. It's fun, but not exactly deep. I have a hard time seeing people ever accepting vampires into society, especially the deep south! But once you get past that it's pretty entertaining. And Anna Paquin is all grown up...
Apparently, it's coming over here soon, but from what I've seen, isn't it rather similar to that Twilight thing?
Yes. Me, I don't care for vampire stories any more. The best I read were the Anne Rice books. The most recent movie was 30 Days of Night. Pretty good flick.
Been watching since the first episode. It has it's moments-good and bad, but many things can be redeemed with enough gratuitous nudity and super-power violence.
I liked 30 days of night because the vampires were ugly, murderous, and evil. No redeeming qualities at all. You didn't want to be one of those vampires- they were monsters, not cool immortals.
I refuse to acknowledge Twilight's "vampires", they break pretty much every conventional law of vampirism. Plus, the font is all wrong.
I've watched it from the beginning, and I've been likeing it. There's a lot of character development. Sookie Stackhouse and Bill The Vampire are the focus of the series, but there's a whole lot of side stories going on with the other characters. Oh, and they show boobies a lot. Anybody think Michelle Forbes is gonna show her upper-frontals?
30 Days of Night is cool... the graphic novel anyway. The way a lot of events were skewed in the movie they fucked all their chances of using the other books as movie scripts and making fat bank rolls of each one. Also, the vampires were done wrong, completely wrong.
Or rather Twilight is similar to this as the book this series of True Blood is based on was written in 2001 and Twilight in 2005. I'm enjoying True Blood. Lots of sex, violence and a bit of humour. I'm not keen on Anna Paquin but Stephen Moyer is very dark and brooding as Bill. I'm also a bit dissapointed with Eric. I know Alexander Skarsgård is tall, but he just isn't very imposing imo. All in all though it's another very good series from HBO. You can generally count on them.
I love this show. Every episode is watched with the anticipation of what stupid thing Jason will do next or what girl he will screw. Tara cracks me up with her bluntness.
I think Anna Paquin and Alexander Skarsgard are both pretty good. Paquin is no beauty queen, but she sure plays Sookie's eccentric nature very well (I don't know if that's true to the books, but it works for the show IMHO), and Eric can be imposing when he wants to be...but he just does it with acting...not special lighting or making his eyes glow or anything...I'm not sure if he's ever even shown his fangs yet. Didn't you see how he made Bill back down in the last episode with just an inquisitive look and a soft word? I thought that was cool as hell. He's imposing without being imposing...which makes it even more imposing IMHO.
Geez, I expected one or two people to be watching it. But seems we got a bit of a cult following here. A vampire show, and no one here says anything. Disappointed.
Can't remember but I think she does, and so does Paquin. That I remember. Paquin looks nice. It's a pretty entertaining show, in a way. It's pretty dumb. a.
Angel still the best vampire series. Gotta love the Vampire who has serial killer background in past, is now a Messiah.
I'm enjoying True Blood a lot more than I thought I would. I alternate between it and Dexter for which show I anticipate the most during the week.
