As mentioned a while back, I got a new job up in Aberystwyth (Wales just to narrow it down for those of an across-the-sea disposition). Here's some piccies from around the area.

First up, the Nant-yr-Arian conservation centre, home of the Red Kite which came back from near-extinction in Wales (and soon to have its DNA sequenced the crap out of by myself):

The lack of overbearing advertisements and smog pollution frightens me.

The lack of decent mobile phone signal at my house is a tad worrying too, thankfully I can link my mobile to my Broadband Talk wireless package...

All I ever got to see of Wales was Cardiff, but that looks to be a very scenic area. Enjoy yourself!

There's a ruined castle right on the seafront - found some background on line... sadly whilst a tourist attraction by day, it's pretty much just a drinking/smoking/drugging point for local teens at night.

That reminds me of the area around castle conwy, they had this little smallest house in the world there as I recall. Very nice and I love the sailboat, its about the size of mine, I would love to sail that area, visit the pubs, eat some fish,n chips and listen to that Welsh lingo that I haven't a clue what they say.

Wales is a shithole with inbred morons, too many mange ridden sheep and responsible for the worst Doctor Who shows for many a year.

Whilst London is full of chavs, has too many mange-ridden lawyers and responsible for Eastenders, a show that you could cheerfully slit your wrists to. :finger:

    Sorry Chup, I wasn't thinking.

I meant to say gonorrhea. :D

Few more piccies, this time of Ynyslas beach and sand dunes, about 15 minutes drive.

I'm now thoroughly convinced that every Brit who makes fun of Wales is attempting to shield their jealousy.

Please report back when you have pics of proper birds. :ramen:

Truth. Wales is the best part of Great Britain, with Scotland second, and England a distant third. I loved every place I went in Britain, including England, but Wales has better everything.

Did you visit the lake district?
You can't really pass judgement on England without visiting there...

Happie, these were taken with a Nikon D80 SLR, using an 18-55mm lens for the landscapes and a 55-200mm lens for the bird shots.

It's a pain switching between them when out and about though (and increases chances of dust of the sensor), so I've just ordered an 18-200mm Sigma lens.

You git, a git you are..
I'd love a single lense with that kind of range, changing lenses is the biggest pain in the arse ever.
    How much is that?
Ive thought about a 28-300 which is about £300, then I could use that for most things and a sigma 10-20 for the wides

Sigma 18-200mm with OS is £275 from OneStopDigital... which given that you gave me the link to the site in the first place... ;)

I did, and your right, it was awesome. I stayed with a family that had what was essentially an old, stone barn converted into a high end home. Very cool. I wasn't trying to imply that England doesn't have scenery and great people. I'm just saying that Wales was better to me from top to bottom.
