[YT="GET OFF MY PHONE!!!"]DGeZQrpZbjI[/YT] LOL. Anyway I figured it'd be a good way to highlight a few right wing talking points about socialized health care. -Foreign leaders from countries with socialized health care come to the US for treatment. -Canadians are suing the government over health care -Canadians have a lottery system to determine who gets to have a family doctor -GET OFF MY PHONE!!!111111 How accurate do you think those statements are? Plus for those of you who like remixes. [YT="Reminx"]m0x-DOiDzp8[/YT]
Well, the minute she said he "didn't care about the trillions the government was spending" I think he would have crawled through the phone and screamed in her face if possible - and rightly so because she's clearly never listened to ANY one of his programs all the way through or she'd know better than THAT. She was essentially quoting Michael Moore and between the too, I'll take Beck for the easy win. In fact, if you left me with only one person telling me what was going on in Washington, and gave me a choice, I'd go with Beck. (not that we agree on everything of course, but I think he has a better take on it than anyone else)
Well, that's what's always separated us. When there's a choice between two lunatics, you take the lunatic with a couple specks of what you believe, whereas I refuse lunatics, and choose nobody.
I dunno, I used to respect the guy before he went conspiracy nut. Basicly, his whole thing now is "he's trying to turn us Commie in the middle of the night! And he's using Michael Jackson's death to get us universal health care!" I get that he's conservative and all that, but that conspiracy angle is not credability-enhancing. Sooner or later he'll have to cross into Stitchen territory and call Obama a Reptilian Illuminati Meson Communist.
Wait, are you saying Obama isn't a Reptilian Illuminati Meson Communist? I always assume the worst in politicians, until proven otherwise.
Wait a minute! Glenn Beck is a conspiracy nut? That must be why he spent several programs de-bunking the FEMA concentration camps!
We only get the TV show around here, he's much more restrained. That, or the body language translates better on the tube than it does via radio.
One of the problems with him is that he loves to use sarcasm and such and it is remarkable how many listeners simply do not grasp the concept. You kind of have to take GB like a Wordforge poster, actually. He's not some polished Anderson Cooper clone. He's just a guy, an "average joe" who happens to have a microphone in front of him when he looks at Washington and says "What the FUCK?"
Oh fucking please. You never saw an ordinary guy, of reasonable intelligence, go on a rant about something? Hell it happens here regularly. I'm sure it happens in every office building in American and every factory at least once a day.
Glenn Beck is crazier than shit. But I like him. He seems to be drifting more libertarian than conservative which I don't mind at all. More than his rants or his regular shows though I like the specials he does on the radio for the holidays and shit. 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas, he always does these special presentations, sort of like history specials but with lots of humor.
He wasn't like that at first, but he seemed to start drifting that way after 1/20/09. He doesn't believe just anything, and most of his theories tend to go like this: "Obama is using the news reports of issue X that he's drumming up right now to get issue Y passed without people knowing about it." Or that Obama is using a reasent news story in the same way. I don't know much about these FEMA camps at all, so no comment there.
I think Glenn Beck's "affable spaz" radio persona works well for him. I'd much rather listen to him than Shannity or Mark Levin.
What is crazy about the idea of a savvy politician using the cover of a big story to in order to slip by a different issue? it happens all the time. It's the same mentality of releasing bad news on Friday so as to minimize the public awareness of it (which is a standard Washington tactic) or starting your negotiations at a too high point in order to get an agreement at the point you actually wanted in the first place. none of that is tinfoil hat stuff - it's standard political maneuvering 101.
Evidence. That's what separates conspiracy theories from news. Leg-work, and evidence. Perhaps. Let him (or any other radio or internet wingnut) get proof, and I'll stop laughing and pointing.
Proof of what specifically? Proof that, for instance, the Feds delayed the new figures on the deficit being announced until AFTER they argue about health care right up until the Recess so that bad deficit numbers do not impact that debate? How do you prove that to your satisfaction? sure I can point out the numbers WERE delayed, and I can't point out when they are released it turns out to be after they recess...but I can never prove to you the claimed motivation. You are setting up a test that cannot possibly be passed.
Just not quickly enough to assuage your fears. Frustrating I'll bet, but that's what it means to abandon paranoia for facts.
If he had to start screaming and yelling to make a point, I would say that she was the real winner of that debate!
Interesting little tidbit today: Beck came off the rails when some woman was all over his shit about health care on his radio program. I mean a real loss of control moment. I guess everyone has to have one once in a while. I don't have a link for it but the haters will have them up soon enough.
I like bech and like fox news, that dont mean I dont think he is a fucking douchebag, hell at times I think he is a full blown nutcase.
Of course he acts like a full-blown nutcase. It's part of his media persona. But he's not a douchebag. If he were one, then it wouldn't be news that he yelled at a caller on his radio show. Shannity, Savage, and Levin do that daily, but you don't see people starting RR threads about it.
Savage is the best out of that group because he's the first one I heard bitching about the government getting too fucking big.
