Did TBBS crash or did I get banned?

That's EXACTLY what happened to me. They still follow me around into other forums like beaten down dogs though. They are pathetic.

Oh, I just pay them a visit every now and then to liven the place up a little. I wouldn't consider a ban any great loss.

Several years ago, right after Dennis was first diagnosed, I told a gay Borg joke and got a 24 hour ban. Lisa was in charge then and the place was pretty hypersensitive.

They can do whatever they want. I was never even told why I was banned or for how long. That's what happens when you're not of a protected class over there. I would just think they would have enough self-respect to apply the rules equally. Just doesn't happen.

It's easy, you just create a new account under a new username, act new for a little bit, and it'll probably take them 6-9 months before anyone gets an inkling and checks your IP number.

Spacebattles.com has gotten hypersensitive in their forums though about anyone presenting an opinion providing "evidence" in support of that opinion.

Almost exclusively in the form of links to outside sources.

They claim it is to prevent trolling but Spacebattles is also getting heavily invested in the idea of protecting "their people".

I was so tempted to go back to TNZ after the Brown win..but I knew better after I made the fatal error of mentioning my Wife was 1/2 Black after I was accused of being a Racist..of course they launched into I was making it up and so forth and I know if I go back I'll be jumped for that.

Now I wasn't completely honest my Wife isn't 1/2 Black but her Mother was so I guess she's more a quarter Black which you can't tell..but still I was right to pointing out if I was such a Racist how could I marry someone with "Black" Blood.

You don't actually have to be a racist to be labeled one over there. All you have to do is oppose the Obama/Democratic agenda.

I'm glad I don't post on SB as much as I did on TBBS, or here & TK. Otherwise SB would've permabanned me months ago.

I'm on SB since March 2nd 2009 & have only 93 posts as of tonight. Shame SB's going down the "protecting their people" route.

I'm honestly surprised that these younger posters didn't know about that. Back before Wordforge when most of us oldtimers were still there, it was fairly common knowledge.

Nobody has been banned. It's a server issue. People are having trouble logging in and if you are logged in, the board is slower than hell.

I've been around since 2001 and never knew. Guess I just didn't pay much attention.

I've interacted with DB since early 2000s and I had no idea either. He hosted my review of either Broken Bow or Shockwave.

In regards to Muad's comment -- he is absolutely right. The race card is spent way over its limit in the garbage dump that is TNZ. I was probably the first person to be called a racist for opposing Obama at TNZ. I remember Sci's words two years ago quite well -- "You are a goddamn racist and I am done talking to you." I just LOLed, as you gotta love some cracker white boy (no offense intended) lecturing a brown person on racism.

'Course, back then, when I complained (as I find the charge of racism as offensive as being racist itself), the mods dismissed it since I was not popular at TNZ. My how times change....guess we're all just 'racists', waiting to be enlightened by our holier than thou 'saviors.'

I got banned from TNZ for talking badly about President Obama.

I got banned from the entire board for talking badly about the new Star Trek movie.

I don't care for the way the moderators handle the board, but I had a really cool FanFiction story I was working on over there.

You have to understand Dayton, that it is (especially TNZ) a protected environment. In TNZ there are maybe 10% of posters that aren't just grade-A morons, losers, or degenerates.

Even in Misc, where you have to be completely civil, these guys get away with murder. Unless, of course, you happen to be a Christian who isn't afraid to voice an opinion.

I was actually asked to change my Biblical sig line because it offended a homosexual. I still have TNZ mods following me into Misc. as well as the other TNZ degenerates who only appear in a thread in which I've posted.

If I posted 1/10th of what these people did in Misc, I'd be whacked in a minute. We just have to understand that the "tolerance" mantra only works one way over there.

ETA- There ARE some and have been some good mods there. I don't know all of them but Mallory, Frontline and Garak all come to mind.

At Spacebattles.com I heard it started in the "v/s" forum where people like to debate things like "SU-27 Flankers v/s F-15 Eagle".

Apparently people were piling in so many ridiculous claims that the moderators there decided it was trolling and ordered people who made claims about technical and technological issues to back up their claims with links to evidence.

And that has spread to the other forums.

I started a thread and specifically said it was my OPINION in the Non Sci-Fi Whining Forum.

But someone comes into the forum and demands "evidence" to justify my opinion.

I was told by a moderator that when someone in a thread demands you supply "evidence" then it automatically becomes a "versus debate" and thus the forum rules require links to evidence to support or justify your opinion.

It as a perfectly permissable way for Spacebattles.com members to derail and close threads from members they don't like.
