I am fully in support of the spirit of Everybody Draw Mohammed Day, but at the same time think that most of the people who are jumping on the bandwagon are just missing the point entirely.

Actually it's not, there is a long history of Mohammad appearing in Islamic art and the restriction of any depiction is a relatively recent distortion of rules intended merely to stop idolization of images.

If Jews were threatening violence against anyone in the world who depicts an image of Moses, then you can be damn sure there would be plenty of people drawing Moses merely to spite them.

The original idea behind "Everybody Draw Mohammed Day" was actually more along the lines of "Everybody Draw Mohammed Being Generally Cool and Doing Ordinary Things Day", the point being to show a lack of intimidation.
