Is there a tennet in christianity that explicitly states that a crucifix submerged in piss is against the will of god and/or Jesus? Because there is about drawing mohammed in islam
There is nothing in Islam about not drawing Mohammed. The proof rests in the many paintings and drawings that were done of him in the past by Islamic people themselves. It's only recently that some have gotten stupid with the whole "you can't see a picture of him" bit.
Indeed yes. What they seem to have done is taken the prohibition against "idolatry" to an absurd length, making any representation of a human figure somehow against the will of God.
I've never understood Christian's fascination with crucifixes anyway. That's like people who agree with James Brady wearing little handgun pendants as 'support' for gun control. If Jesus was around today, the last thing he would want to see is a bunch of crosses.
The ban on imagery is in the Hadith, not the Quran. Different sects take it more or less seriously. Here's a list of famous depictions of the Prophet Muhammed if you are interested: http://www.crankyprofessor.com/archives/000492.html
I entirely agree, but again, that wasn't the issue I was making. And the purpose of this thread goes further than just free speech. It is a clear intention to do something that says "fuck you, you filth" to muslims.
So what? We had a long thread here comparing the Christian God to a child rapist. The Muslims who threaten violence over this issue deserve a big, hearty "fuck you, you filth". Muslims who don't feel that strongly about it need not be offended at all. What's your issue?
What about muslims who don't mean you any harm whatsoever but would be offended by it? Pakistan banned the Facebook page that this comes from because of offence. Pakistan is your ally. Are you going to therefore tell me that every Pakistani either wants to kill you or doesn't care?
incorrect, in fact A LOT of earlier paintings would depict him with light in front of the face, so that you wouldnt see him. also there was a movie about him in the 70s(it was Michael Medved's worst religious movie selection at the time), and it had all the important figures not shown. it either depicted the sword they were holding during the fight scene, or depicted them as the camera, viewing something. and there are 70+ sects of islam according to the religions of the east course i took. there's bound to have been those that were okay with showing him.
I'll tell them what I'd tell anyone... This is the Red Room...get over it, get tough or get out. Please enjoy our other, moderated forums to be sure to avoid overt offense. You were being an ass all over the board when you were mod. I am surprised you would develop a case of bitter butthurt and try to whip up shit against Lanzman over it now. The situations don't compare...give it up. Looking for people to be protected from offense in the Red Room...
Oh, so this is all because I am a child with sour grapes and the point I am making is not worth discussing? Believe me, I have far more shit going on in my life to have sour grapes over the grand WF modship 8 fucking months after I lost it. Mind you, I give you credit. I knew the minute I posted my view it was only a matter of time before I would get a "you're just upset about your modship" post. I just assumed it would have been one of the tards who posted it.
The point isn't worth discussing because it's the Red Room. Where were you the last time any other religion was skewered in here? In fact, you come up with some of the most scathing trolls on the board...I'm supposed to believe suddenly, you care about Tasvir and the random Muslim's feelings and their religious views? You started focused on whether the owner of the board should do X, giving away what you really wanted... You even brought up your own firing yourself. Somehow, fellow troll, I don't think it's raghead sensibilities you give two farts about here.
The person who brought up your modship both in this thread and in the report post for this thread was you.
I didn't give much of a shit about Tasvir, and if you've read my Blue Room thread you will know that I have had far more to worry about that the bloody modship. Why is that so hard to believe? I'm on the verge of losing my home and in financial crisis at the moment. Do you think I give a shit about the modship? The modship comparison was made because at the time I was a mod I was told that I had to behave to a higher standard. The issue at hand is not sour grapes, its whether or someone in a different position to reguler members should be posting potentially offensive threads. I mean, if I owned the board and posted a thread about "killing niggers" and posted plenty of pictures of dead blacks, would everyone be fine with it if I claimed free speech? Would people be cool is a board owner posted a thread against Jews of the same tone as the Nazis promoted. Why does everyone suddenly feel its acceptable when it comes to muslims? Sometimes, people need to stop trying to be sad internet geniuses who score points over the other person and for once realise that the issue a person raise is the issue and not some other reason just because they feel clever enough to be able to make the accusation.
For the record I am about as far from being "leftist" as you can get and um unquestionably one of the most right wing non-Americans on here.
I stay out of the Blue Room unless specifically asked to read something or deal with a problem. Whatever, Chup...your antics were outside the Red Room aside from some personal information issues. If Lanzman had posted this in the Green Room it would be a problem, but in here? No. Everyone can be offended together in here.
Don't try and put words in my mouth that aren't there. You can play lawyerball with someone else. All I said was that you were the only person to bring up your modship at all, first.
Then why is Paladin having a go at me in another Red Room thread for posting a picture of a black civil war soldier being hanged? Double standards. Yes, I think so. Blacks are off limits, but muslims, its ok to have a go at them cause its the Red Room
