It's not controversial at all. It's not rebellion worthy either because people need to take it for what it is. It's a sanctuary for people that can't cut it and feel persecuted in the real world. It is also a great place to go observe these folks and try to understand their issues.
Refuge for people who can't cut it and feel persecuted in the real world? Sounds like you're describing yourself, there. Getting kicked out of TNZ and/or TBBS is hardly a ringing endorsement for one's ability to cope with the "real world." How would you classify someone like me, who seems to cope very well at TBBS and WordForge?
GBI & TLS need to go for a looooooonnnnnngggggg ride in the :obamacar: Make them feel like new. Garm & Squire tired of TrekBBS's endless hordes'n'legions of Barackilljoys & Obamaphobes. Like that neocon douchebag Red Ranger. Or TBBS's other whiny righties like Sigh, Myashitstain, OmahaFart, Menace Failey entc ent al. Who I don't doubt are also whities
^ That was almost Baba-esque. I'm still not sure what you said. I'm white and need to go for a ride in the car?
Picture Scott, Hodad, and Fenreer trying to be the biggest a-holes they're capable of, and you will understand TBBS.
Good grief, who cares about this stuff? Look, TBBS is a good board -- certainly Christian, TBonz, Frontline, Mallory, Peach and others should be proud of what they have accomplished there, as TBBS has surpassed even StarTrek.com in many ways -- but posters should learn to separate TNZ from TBBS. It's fun to mock TNZ, but in actuality...TNZ shouldn't be mocked, it should be pitied. Why? Because TNZ went out of fashion with yesterday's garbage. Aside from a few Star Trek has-been's reliving peak performances, just look at how few people actually participate in TNZ these days. The few times I've logged in to TBBS (I'd say about 10 times in the past 2 years), there are usually about 20 members or so viewing TNZ....but when you evaluate that in relation to the lead-in that the forum has -- of about 200-300 members at TBBS at any given time -- the failure of that forum becomes quite obvious. If TNZ were a network television show, it would have been been canceled a long time ago, since it is hardly able to retain any sort of meaningful audience given its time slot. Maybe someday someone will finally put it out of its misery and give it the euthanasia it so desperately needs. My advice to you then: Move on. Even before I formally left TBBS, I had already begun to disengage from there as it was no longer holding my attention. Then, after some posters tried to come after me and my privacy, I exposed them for the troublemakers that they are, and then voluntarily left TBBS (preferring to leave the arena undefeated), just asking TBonz to close my account on my way out. It was as simple as that. No muss, no fuss. It's been two years since then, and I can't say that I've ever really felt the need to look back. (I mean sure, every now and then I may miss TBBS for participating in the Star Trek discussions but I've also come to realize that is more a reflection of what TBBS once was a long time ago than what it is now). Ask me today, and I'd have just had my TBBS account nuked back in June 2008 when I left. Of course, contrast that with what still goes on there. While I don't even talk about TNZ anymore (this is probably the first time I've mentioned it in about 1.5 years)....it's been brought to my attention that people there still talk about me. In fact, some people there still talk about my posts here. Some even quote stuff I write here and post it there, as recently as a few weeks ago as I've been informed. How daft, and really, pretty sad. Still trying so desperately to associate me with that forum I guess....still manifesting such elementary psychological pathology -- the propensity to reenact trauma while imagining self as victor. Is it any wonder then why most people don't bother with that place...why, speaking for myself, I have probably spent a total of only one hour at TBBS in the last two years? The proof is in the pudding. ------ As for Wordforge, just chill out and enjoy this place. It is a treasure. I've posted at Wordforge 5 times longer now than I posted at TBBS (post 2003), and not once have I had the kind of problems that seemed so commonplace at TNZ (guess I really wasn't as bad a poster as some there tried to make me out to be. ) Wordforge keeps getting me to come back. It keeps getting a lot of people to come back. I've found heated and passionate dialogue here, but I've also found a sophistication of discussion at the same time. People move seamlessly from berating to debating here; which is something that I think is quite unique and sets this place apart from all the rest imo. So, just leave the trash where it belongs, and welcome something new and better in your life. As I can tell you from my experience, you'll be glad you did.
Good question! Certainly you don't care. I mean if we wanted a boring novel, we'd ask Garamet to chime in. You just stick to whatever it is you do.
It's amazing how it works: I go for weeks or months without posting at Wordforge and the world continues to turn, the board continues to have enough traffic to stay viable and nobody notices that I'm gone. That suits me fine. Me life is not altered in any way by not posting here and the board is not affected in any way by my absence. Why anyone bothers with flounce threads is an interesting psychological question.
Well they aren't quite as stalkerish as your thread, but I'm surprised you haven't seen Eastbound and Down yet (where the av and sig come from), I actually think you'd like it.
They've disabled new member registrations? That's what happens when someone is suffering from insomia and is bored to death.
