Ignoring your irony for a moment: I really think that Obama is an ok President. He's not as good as I hoped, but I still think he does an ok job, more or less... At least from an European point of view.
From an American point of view, who is directly affected by his actions, I think he's a fucking idiot.
Jan Jansen agrees: From reading all the opinions about him on WF, I get the impression that he is the fucking Antichrist! It's the nature of the (political) beast in America, Jan. Sometimes we're afraid if we don't get really fired up nobody's really going to pay attention or do anything about it if they are.
I got it for ya. I don't mind getting people worked up, but there is a difference between people on the other side being the passionate opposition and enemies. I have a friend who is very much the opposite of me politically; we have many heated arguments over politics. At the end of the day though, we grab a beer and hang out. 'Cause we're friends.
The nature of the political beast in America is never to mention anything about 'your own side' but only ever to spew obsessive amount of hatred towards 'the other side'
I just read this guy's opinion, in detail, and shared it with the class, Dan. I'm trying to understand some of my shortcomings. Not perfect yet, of course.
They say you shouldn't talk politics or religion but, ultimately, they're among the things that are of the most value. A real friend will hash them all out with you and, even if you disagree, hang in there with you despite it.
Exactly. I like to talk religion with my religious friends to understand them and where they are coming from better, not to mock them. Even when I feel that what they worship is stupid, I will bite my tongue. Because I am sure there are a lot of things I do that seem just as stupid to them (*cough*WorldOfWarcraft*cough*). Not to get too wishy-washy, but at the end of the day I might think their minds are in the wrong place but I would not doubt their hearts.
"Hatred" has become the PC term for any behavior of which you don't approve perpetrated by someone with whom you disagree. It's gotten to the point that the word "hate" doesn't actually uniformly stand for anything, so it might as well mean nothing at all. Always gratifying to see practical application of this principle. Thanks, Leach!
I think our concerns are warranted. Apathy and complacency are the very qualities that put us in the mess we're in.
This is one milepost on the road to suppression of dissent -- label any word of opposition to Party principles as "hate speech." Personally, Skin believes that if lefty faggots would actually stand up for their convictions rather than cowering behind the skirts of the mama groups they set up, they might actually be respected. Still opposed to the death, but at least respected.
Skin would like to clarify a component of his last post: By 'faggot', Skin isn't referring to homosexuals. By 'faggot', Skin is referring to effeminate, sniveling, conniving nancy-boys who go leaving a trail of dribbled snot to the nearest bigger kid to get their fights fought for them, instead of allowing their own metaphorical balls to descend even if only long enough to ball up a fist and throw their own well-being behind what they claim to believe in.
Bob Shrum is an idiot. Everybody in Democratic Politics knows that if you want to lose a Presidential election, you hire Bob Shrum as a consultant. From McGovern to Kerry, he has a perfect batting average -- zero. Shrum should just retire, and rest on his 'laurels'...what little there is of them.
Obama is very much a solid example of a European leader. Which is exactly why he's full of fail in his purpose and only full of win when it comes to enacting a policy that's full of fail.
By nature, I'm mostly an easy-going person. But I look at some of the things that have happened in my lifetime and think that if more people had gotten fired up over more of the "little" things then maybe we'd be a little less far along the path that I think we've gone on.
Yerp. It's the second line in his Wikipedia entry, fer cryin out loud! Interesting story about the Kerry campaign -- they went to great lengths to pretend like Bob Shrum wasn't part of their campaign, because of his constant strike outs; though the inside story was that Shrum was Kerry's closest advisor. But the pretense was there, because that's how much people don't want to be linked with Shrumie. In any case, Obama fluffer Bob Shrum should just go away, AFAIC.
Damn, it's a wonder the guy can breath with shit being caked up his nostrils from kissing Obama's ass.
