A strong country will have a strong influx from immigrants, especially skilled ones. I think everyone should want this. It helps drive the economy, and it helps business.

I realize that illegals are doing a lot of work for American companies too, but you can't just turn a blind eye. Obviously rounding them all up and deporting them wouldn't work, so you have to start working on something that will grant the ones already here some kind of working Visa or whatever.

Oh, and build a fence to stop more from coming over.

    Its not rocket science.

Why wouldn't rounding them up and deporting them work?

How many millions are there? How many jobs do they hold? What kind of effect would it have on the economy? What kind of riots would you deal with?

How much would it cost? Can you afford it?

Okay, I'll give you that one - there is a decent vein of accused anti-semitism directed towards the left. That's a decent comparison.
This on the other hand is stupid - just typical internet flaming. Let me know when you hear a talking head on TV or even talk radio suggest his liberal opponent is a cock sucker.
Again - my point wasn't about internet flaiming - it was about comments expected to be taken seriously.

Like 14D - you seem to think I was talking about internet flame wars.

I wasn't - I was speaking of the broader political discourse in this country - radio, TV, print media, many (but not all) blog sites (i.e. huffPost, Powerline, Daily kos, red State, etc)

I do not consider trolling and flaiming on message boards to be part of that discourse (albeit, we do on occasion have some thoughtful contributions.

for instance - cite me the last time Paladin or Demiurge resorted to the sort of shit you describe....or Packard or Raoul ?

Why would anyone want to waste their life taking care of an inferior group of people? That being said though, their gassing can WAIT until AFTER the military coup I suppose.

Ah, so this is the good kinda racism?

So the GOP was built on demonizing black folks? Odd, I don't remember the first republican president playing that card.

You're close, the true distraction is the illusion of difference between the DNC and the GOP.

I find your perception uncommon and more than a tad inane.

Hey, you're the one who's thinking it!

Really now? Seems the Founding Fathers excluded a number of folks based on skin color, gender and place of origin.

Do you consider this attitude as being exclusive to the "Right-Wing"? Cuz it sounds more like an attitude common to a wide variety of people.

What is the "ultimate goal" humanity is intended to accomplish?

Playground level taunts belong in any discussion of US political parties!

Not willing to admit to the possibility that they *might* be wrong?

Hell yes, because genocide is SO American ! We love our country SO much, we of the Moron Brigade will do anything to save it. That includes breaking laws and the Constitution, while simultaneously demanding that the law should be followed. Are you always this dumb or did you take lessons ?

Clearly not. It's only a flaw if you assume that they have a right to be here. Its morally fine to say that no, they don't, we have the right to determine immigration, just like every other country in the world.

Again, the concept that the US is racist against Mexicans because we only allow about quarter a million of them into the United States as legal citizens a year is just absolutely inane. The US allows more legal immigration than all of the other countries in the world, and 25% of those are from one country - Mexico.

Ignoring this fact just makes those arguing about the 'racism' of the US extraordinarily ignorant, and more than a little hypocritical.

I don't really care how much it'll cost. When your house is overrun by termites, do you let them eat you out of the house, or do you call an exterminator and call a bank for a line of credit? Or in our case, China? This would be money I DON'T MIND BORROWING, for once.

When we're trillions in debt, it's time to start plugging the leaks. Illegal immigrants were already a $20+ billion per year leak over ten years ago. This is a sinking ship, and you're demonizing damage control. Get a fucking clue.

I agree that they cost you a lot of money. I just don't think its feasible to just round up 20 million people and deport them.

Again, on what basis do you find it infeasible? Skin's betting that's just an idea that's been repeated so many times that you've just come to accept it as true.

ADDENDUM: As a matter of fact, a similar mass deportation has been tried once and had great success at the time.

You would not have to round up 20 million people and deport them all at once.

First close the border to illegals (and it can be done), then deport about 500,000 a year.

Within a few decades, all the illegals are either deported, have become U.S. citizens by other means, or dead from natural causes.

I'd go further than that. if you had an active campaign to identify and deport say 100,000 a year, 4 times that many would flee back to Mexico on their own under the threat of being detained. At Skin's link it talks about the fact that the initiative to collect illegals promoted a wave of voluntary repatriation.

Beyond that, it's not necessary for the campaign to be 100% effective, so long as the numbers are reduced to something manigible.

IMO if we were to attempt it we'd be well advised to start on the lower rungs - start with all the illegals held for non-violent crimes in our prisons, then those who violate (other) laws and come to our attention, then those collecting public assistance*. and so forth.

If we never actually get to the ones who've been here 20 years and own businesses and contribute to the productivity of the community....if we get say 15 million out of the 20 - that will make a huge impact.

*This one would piss people off because you'd have to keep record for a year or more without actually announcing the intent lest people stop coming to the emergency rooms and such like - then collect them all at once based on those records.
There'as like 4 or 5 different ways people would howl about that.
