Although I couldn't be less interested in the owl movie, Snyder sounds like a terrific choice for Superman. 300 rocked in a very manly way, and Watchmen is one of my all-time favorite comic adaptations. Won't happen, but my casting choice would be to bring back Routh and get Mary Elizabeth Winstead for Lois Lane.
Economic troubles have bred a growing anti-immigrant movement in Metropolis. The charismatic leader of the movement even manages to turn the people against Superman, who is powerless to make things better. After Superman wages a tremendous battle against Metallo that leaves much of Metropolis in ruins, the townspeople turn fully against Superman. Superman decides to quit and lead a quiet life as Clark Kent. He quits the Daily Planet and returns to his family's farm in Smallville. When he leaves Metropolis, Lois' sadness reveals just how much she's grown to care for Clark. It is revealed that the leader of the anti-immigrant movement is an agent of Darkseid, the overlord of planet Apokalips. The disappearance of Superman is the opportunity he's been waiting for: to conquer the Earth. Darkseid uses some strange technology to communicate with another dimension which just happens to be the Phantom Zone! Its occupants are none other than General Zod and his army of followers. Darkseid, using kryptonite radiation to keep them under control, releases the Kryptonians and plans to use them as the vanguard of his army. Zod is a very honor-bound military man and is none too thrilled about serving Darkseid. Zod's men are intensely loyal to him. Zod learns that he and his men are necessary because Earth might be defended by a Kryptonian called Superman. Lois visits Clark in Smallville; she's pretending to need a break from Metropolis, but really just wanted to see him. They're on the verge of a romance as Darkseid's first batch of Kryptonians show up. Clark and Lois, it seems, are known associates of Superman and Darkseid wants them "in safe-keeping" should the Man of Steel return. Darkseid's ship enters Earth's atmosphere and hovers menacingly above Metropolis. Darkseid's minions take over all the governments of the Earth; armies are useless against his Kryptonian vanguard. Clark and Lois are brought aboard Darkseid's massive ship; Jimmy Olsen, Perry White, and a few others are already being held there. The anti-immigrant leader is on hand to ridicule them, but he is suddenly and viciously exterminated by Darkseid, who no longer has any use for him. Darkseid orders Zod to have Superman's friends tagged with special transponders to keep track of them, a task which Zod carries out. After tagging Lois and Jimmy, he comes to Clark. Before he injects the pellet into Clark, he scans him with X-Ray vision and realizes: Clark is a Kryptonian...and therefore Superman. Clark realizes that Zod knows, too. [?=Big Spoiler]Psyche![/?]
I am intrigued by the Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Lois Lane notion. She would be the first Lois I actually liked.
Whelp, I knew he was in the running, and I didn't see how they could NOT pick him, so this only confirms what I had pretty much assumed. Now, to the casting of Supes, Lois, and Luthor, then I'll get excited or not.
Well, you could shit in a bucket, video record it, and that would be better than Superman Returns. I approve.
Routh has got to go, I would not be happy to see him back in the role. Was not impressed with him in the last Superman movie, he looked wooden and just didn't have that charisma or aura that you would associate with Superman - or Christopher Reeve's Superman. A new Supes is needed if this reboot is going ahead.
I didn't mind Brandon Routh at all. It was the slow paced script that I didn't like. I wouldn't mind him coming back. Zack Snyder is one of Hollywood's best, IMHO. While I may skip the owl thing, I can't wait for Sucker Punch next March.
Might you be just a little bit premature? With Nolan's guidance, perhaps it'll be a great story with lots of super-action...
Or Supes could whip out his big blue atomic dick, and grow it to the size of an apartment building....
The thing about Reeve's costume is that he's got his underwear pulled up to his chest. And Routh looks like he just came back from a gay pride parade. Surely there's a middle.
