Given the controversey between Activision and Infinity Ward over the last Call of Duty, Treyarch is now the head development studio for the series. They will pull out all the stops if only to prove that the series has not lost it's edge. There will be a Zombies co-op in Black Ops. It would be a gamble if it weren't.
Well, the Aceivements/Trophies list has been revealed... Or should I say "leaked" on the web. Fair Warning: the list contains minor spoilers of some mission objectives and locations. Anyone else play it yet? I played a few rounds of Zombies, a ton of multiplayer and a bit of the campaign. I have to say that this game gives you a bit if bang for your buck. I'll play some more of the single player tonight. First impression is that it's very worthwhile.

OMFG!! Ummm.... When you complete the game, there's a Zombies Map in the Pentagon. You can play as JFK, Nixon, Secretary McNamara and Fidel Castro. The whole time, Nixon and JFK are going back and forth making snide comments on each other's domestic policy. It's fucking HILARIOUS! I hope the DLC has Obama, Bush, Clinton and Reagan! The single player is pretty great. The multiplayer is fucking awful when compared to MW2, actually strike that, you can't even compare the two. Treyarch has a looooong way to go if they want their games to be mentioned in the same sentence as MW2.
I actually like the multiplayer more than MW2 at this point. No endless noon tubes, no stopping power and they start you out with decent guns. The fact that you can but the guns you want when you want them is awesome! No nukes! This is great, IMHO. And not for nothing, the combat training mode is worth it alone.
So if they are going to go ahead and implicate the Russians as the people who organized the assassination of JFK in the game, why not go the extra mile and have you play out that scenario?
Me too, to be honest. While both are good fun, the whole CIA/alternate take on history is pretty cool... and I'm really liking the way you can buy your weapons that you want and make your own emblems.... Not to mention the theater mode that let's you record your own matches, edit them and upload them to YouTube! I made a pretty sweet Batman emblem. As soon as I figure out how to do a screen cap, I'll post it here or on YouTube.
You have to unlock the ability in Multiplayer. Level 5 or 6 or so, IIRC. you can select any combination hundreds of preset images to be your "coat of arms" so to speak. When you make a kill in MP, your emblem pops up on t he screen of the player you killed. I have a combination of 6 images that looks like a sillohutte of Batman staring down from a ledge over a moon lit Gotham City. Pretty sweet, if I say so myself.

So, the Private Match hosting where you have a totally free hand to load out your custom classes with any weapon or perk in the game... That can get pretty ridiculous.
My best KDR is around 4 or 5:1.... But that was a once in a lifetime dream match where I was paired up with a bunch of noobs. It felt like Christmas!! My overall KDR is 0.74. Not great, but I'm a run and gunner. I don't like camping out in one spot waiting to make kills. So I don't usually care if I have high number of deaths, I just strive to improve my kill count continuously. If I get a match where I drop below 0.6 KDR, I do acknowledge that it was a bad match for me and I do feel good when I get a match where I get a 0.9 KDR or above, but mostly, I focus on increasing my bodycount. As far as getting good, have you tried the combat training mode? The COD servers populates a match with you and computer controlled freinds and foes in a match of TDM or whatever you like. You can access it from the multiplayer main menu. You can select difficulties of Recruit, Regular, Hardened and Veteran and the number of foes and friends you want. Having played it a bit, I believe that a live multiplayer match is somewhere between Hardened and Vetran. I usually select to have only one or two freinds and like 9 enemies to give the computer an advantage that I strive to overcome. Selecting the right weapon, attachment and perks is a good way to get better too. The Enfeild, Famas and Galil are my favorite guns. Suppressors will decrease damage and red dots and scopes increase accuracy. I will keep a class with a launcher and Ghost as a perk for when those pesky choppers are in the air killing from above. Other than that, it's just a matter of knowing the maps. I hope that helps.
Something else you could try is instead of playing TDM or FFA, try Sabotage, Demolition or Domination. These are objective based games where you try and capture the opposing teams flag or detonate/defuse a bomb. In these modes, the number of kills and deaths you rack up are secondary. I once finished on top of the leaderboard and had the fewest amount of kills on my team by capturing the most flags in the game.
Domination is the bulk of my leveling. You get that XP even if you aren't the first or only team member at the flag. I also make an effort to shoot down choppers and spy planes. Those are good for big pointage.
Another tactic you could try is To attach a grenade launcher to your assault rifle. With this, you only need to shoot in the general direction of an enemy to get a kill. If you happen to see two or three together, you can get multiple kills with one grenade. This works really well on Domination where people have to wait a number of seconds at a flag in order to capture it. Also, in the class where I have Ghost, I attach a suppressor to my rifle. I also use Ninja so that anyone using the mini map to pinpoint enemies won't see me. I suggest using the Enfield for this or a high powered SMG because the suppressor will limit the effectiveness of your bullets.
I played 3 rounds of demolition last night and ultimately lost the match. I planted two bombs and defused one and had a total of 18 kills over 3 rounds. I racked up over 10,000 XP and almost 1,000 COD points
My best KDR ever was 9:1, I really can't say how I did it, other than being mildly careful. It was in a round of domination and I was playing a stealth class. Realistically the best way to get better is take notice of how you're failing, look at some of the post match analyses, look at your kill zones in levels and where you consistently die. Try to find your weaknesses and find ways to eliminate or mitigate them.
