What Muslims? What Mexicans? What Socialists/Communists/Marxists? What Urban Tribesmen? I'd start by cutting those cancers out of humanity and let the rest know that if they don't shape up, they're next.
All powerful doesn't automatically imply a shedding of all the baggage you've grown up with so far. You aren't going to instantly transform into a divinely neutral, objective being. You are you, just with access to any knowledge or comprehension you desire, and with the ability to make anything you can imagine a reality.
Funny, I'd be preventing bigoted fucktards from acting on their prejudice in any way that harms others.
Where would you live? Fortress of solitude, dead center on the south pole. Time is not a concern for me. I can be multiple places at once, so while I'm all over the world parenting humanity, I'm also constructing mankind's first interstellar spacecraft in a hangar next to my fortress.
If I were all powerful, I'd create a hippie-like utopia. Food, clothing and shelter would be plentiful and available to everyone thereby rendering all greed pointless. ... that would pretty much cure all problems, I think.
In actuality, if I suddenly became all-powerful, I'd likely pull a Dr Manhatten - "Fuck all y'all, I'm off for another galaxy. I'll make me a planet where shit makes some kind'a sense."
Because contributing anything you recognize as valuable shouldn't be a prerequisite, and you have no good reason to cull them. I was hoping this would more than a vehicle for dumb shit bigots to "kill all the queers and brown people."
If I have the power to do anything, and I'm watching over this joint, why wouldn't I want to use said power to guide humanity into what I think is a higher state? Now, since I'm doing that, and I think some groups of people aren't helping the process, indeed are actively hindering it, why wouldn't I cull the herd? It ian't skin color; it's culture.
Greed doesn't arise solely from need and want, or materialism at all. The desire to have something that makes them "better" than others will never be cured in some people. Nor will the desire to kill, maim and terrorize each other just for the sport of it. Not unless you're going to completely subvert free will and just rewrite peoples' entire minds, which kind of defeats the purpose. You'd be better off just constructing a brand new world and populating it with custom-made people of your own design, if that's the route you want to take.
Well, hey... you asked, he toldja. 'Course, if you'd been omniscient, you'd've known that's what he'd tell ya and then you either wouldn't've asked or you'd be okay with his answer.
Omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient as well? So, not just all-powerful. Basically, God, right? Also, have I always been this way or did I just become this way? It makes a difference because if I'm brand new to the whole god thing then I'm probably going to be a jerk about the whole thing for a while.
It's about ignorant, illogical prejudice, and you're not helping yourself by trying to dress it up. If you want to cull the sort of people who drag humanity down, start with yourself, asswipe.
You've lived your whole life a lowly mortal up until right now, then you discover you can know and do anything you want. Limited in scope, perhaps. The Earth, maybe our solar system. And I would hope I can assume that people would just rewrite the entire timeline by fucking with history.
It's not like people would just be sitting around eating and drinking. They would just make better use of thier time doing the things they wanted - actually learning about rocket science, rather than reading about it. Life wouldn't be perfect, but at least people wouldn't be starving.
I don't think it's safe to assume that most people will willingly work at improving themselves once they no longer have to worry about the necessities. Many people will remain sedentary, hedonistic slobs who care for nothing but their own ease and pleasure. Agreed. And everyone who sucks would suffer for it.
I have no idea what I would do because, having become omniscient, I would certainly see a lot of things much differently than I do now. Thus, some things that I currently see as bad and in need of change I would opt to keep as they are, and some things that I now see as acceptable I would change. But since I can't know which things fall in which categories without first becoming omniscient, I can't know ahead of time what I would do, or choose not to do.
I would imagine some people would be sedentary. But, I think most people would quickly get bored doing nothing all day and all night. Eventually, they would find something that interests them, then find some goal within that interest that they would want to acheive, then work towards acheiving that goal.
They might get bored, but they'd just want to be entertained. More toys, more performing for their amusement. You gonna give everyone their own rocket ship? Because I dare say most of them aren't going to want to educate themselves to the point of being a qualified astronaut before they fly off into space. And what about the silly little dipshits who want to make their lifelong goal to build and live in a world like they saw in a movie like Avatar? If you don't indulge everything, then you're gonna have to ignore the tantrums of people who still think they deserve everything they want, when they want it, without having to do anything to earn or deserve it. Guaranteeing the necessities of survival is going to turn most people into children, and that's how they're gonna act.
I'd love to live in a world like the one in Avatar. ... for a few weeks, maybe months. Then, I'd turn it into a world like Star Trek. Then, Terminator, then quiet things back down to something like Wall-E That would certainly keep everyone from getting bored.
You gonna build everyone their own world? Otherwise they'll never all agree on how to change this one.
oh no. I'm the all powerful one. Everyone has to live in my world till I get tired of it. It's cool tho. I have a short attention span.
I'm all-powerful? Great! I create a "maturity switch" in the human body that prevents sperm/egg development until the person has reached a proper maturity level to allow for reproduction. Probably bundle in some sort of intelligence requirement into the equation as well. This will solve many aspects of the issues of overpopulation, abortion, social Darwinism, etc... That'd be a nice start. Oh, and if my kid accidentally kicked over someone's beer at a hockey game, I'd use my powers to fill it up again.
Interesting one. My first thought is that the right thing to do would probably be to give up my powers, or at least distribute them amongst others. Any human being imagining that such absolute control would not eventually cause them to do awful things is kidding themselves. Short of that - say goodbye, Laws of Physics. Hey Zefram, reckon you can build one of those warp drive things? Here's the blueprint! And so on and so forth.
