Judging by the amount of re-play, I would rank GTA-SA and Star Trek Armada I at the top. Probably have to put the Mario Brothers franchise up there too, if you looked at my entire gaming life.
Other than Mass Effect 2, I haven't played any game mentioned in this thread so far. I'd say GTA IV, Crysis 2, and Mass Effect 2 with my limited gaming experience so far.
You have a favorite character in Mass effect 2? I liked the Salarian Scientest Mordin. Illusive Man is cool guy in a villain type of way.
Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Smash Bro's, and Golden Eye got a lot of play at my house back in the day. Kids from the neighborhood would come by and we'd gamble dollar games on Mario Kart, Smash and Golden Eye. Good times. The 64 was probably the best console ever made with the best line up of games. Vice City was the shit too. But I'm from Miami and the setting and soundtrack fucking rocked. But in the end I'm going to have to go with Final Fantasy 7. Love that game. Still replay it time to time and even though the graphics are dated it is still an awesome game.
Overall ST game. Gotta say i loved armada 2 RTS-Railroad Tycoon 2 Otherwise, I'm a big Jagged Alliance fan. Got the v 1.13 mod which tweaked it just enough. and of course, Starcraft. Shooters tend to get boring.
Super Mario 64. Half-Life (including sequels and infinite fan-made level packs) Portal (including sequel and infinite fan-made levels) A bajillion others rest below these three, and include Zelda: Majora's Mask (better than Ocarina of Time, IMO), Peggle, SNES Mario Kart, Super Mario World, Banjo-Kazooie, Frontier: Elite 2, Goldeneye, GTAIII/San Andreas and others I'll be sure to remember later on. Edited to add: Deus Ex, Carmageddon 2 and Postal 2. Also: I just realized that this is in no way a "best games ever" list but a "what games do you have the fondest memories of" one. Meh.
Star Control 2. Yeah, I'm old school, yeah, I went there. Current crop of games I'd have to agree Mass Effect 2. But SC2 is going on its 20th year, and is still a damn fun game, despite being from the dark ages of the computer gaming industry.
I tried playing Half Life 2 (or whatever the first one in the orange box is) but I just couldn't get through it. Perhaps the first game I've truly just lost interest in. Played for a good while, before it was just "blah, fuck this."
