When I look in the mirror, I see a kind and gentle person who does everything he possibly can to never say anything hurtful about anyone. I see someone who tries to promote a friendly world, healing for everyone, happiness for everyone...and someone who tries to do his part to not add the nastiness already out there in the world. I see someone who, when asked the following: I responded with: That to me is someone who respects other people's space. If I can do more, or do better, let me know. I also hope that I might get the same in return. I realize it may not happen, Red Room and all. I totally get that. But I hope that it is still ok for me to say "I would like be left alone," everytime these things start. Who knows, maybe that 1000000000th time of saying it is the one that finally makes the point.
Look, I appreciated that as did many others, but my contention here is the being thrown out here. I have no beef with you, never had, I was just pointing out the nature of the arena. All you have to do is ignore her/him, or anyone instead of engaging them in kind. That goes a lot further, trust me.
Well that's not true and you know I can prove it. But I'm simply just going to repeat what I have said for years now: I'd prefer it if you still keep away from me. Well that's not true either, but again I'll say the same thing I've been saying to for 3 years now: I prefer you still keep away from me.
Again, every single thing that bothers you is solved if you use the ignore function. Every one. You refuse to use it because part of you loves the drama and part of you is so arrogant you can't stand the idea they might say something and you won't know what it is. There is no other reason to purposely not use ignore on people you have zero interest in interacting with. You can't control other people...not at all...but you can control this situation if you really wanted to. Oh, I am an Administrator...not only would it be counter-productive to my job here to ignore people, but I believe the software doesn't even allow me to do it...I also think posters can't ignore Admins either. You know personally that I love you Eminence, but this is really just silly that you won't just take care of shutting them off yourself. In fact, it makes no sense to me.
Well, most everyone has a mean side....but I don't think when you take into consideration the depth, extent, number of people involved, and length of how long its gone on...that the two are really comparable. I also think I don't respond in a mean way to anyone (I think) besides this certain group, which I don't think they can similarly say, so I think that also speaks volumes. But, just my opinion. YMMV. That said, yeah there is nastiness on the internets, and it's really pervasive, and increasingly so. You can't even go to a comments section on a newspaper website without some really awful statements from people. It's everywhere too, even here on the Trek internets. I was just thinking about the first person that I met off TBBS, ten years (or more) now I think.....from way back when we would meet on the subway and trade DS9 VHS tapes in NYC. Man, we were such dweebs then. We still keep in touch, and today he and his boyfriend live in Brooklyn, and he was telling me recently about his immense collection of DS9 memorabilia. He even has the Viewscreen that they had in DS9 Ops, you know the one where Dukat's face would come up for subspace trolling and everyone would be all *groan,* what the fuck do you want, Dukat?? Then he sent me a picture and said to me "when are you gonna come see in person??" (of course, it's not likely anytime soon, I'm in CA). Those are the kinds of interactions I had when I was on these trek internets during the last decade, just good people that I still know, and I guess that's the standard I have when I think of places like TBBS, WF. Perhaps though, it's just not like that anymore.... Anyway, have a song, perhaps fitting for the overall theme here. In any case, a song is always good! Oh my God. I had no idea we were on this level. I was just kidding about Jenne telling me to neg rep you. Oh God. Everyone back out of this thread slowly. Lanz lock it, and not just the thread if you know what I mean. No, no, fuck it, Everyone just run!
From everything that I've read, most idiot savant's have at least one talent, I guess you've found yours.
14thdoctor trolled Sokar/Kirk, that morphed into a big rep debate thread, Tamar split this thread off of that so Doc/Kirk/Sokar can keep then, this thread did a couple morphs, now, somehow, it's about Eminence going all and every one else
Reading this thread made me forget about the drama on my ship, and how everyone there are complete and utter shitbags. Thanks, WF!
A few years ago some folks told me repeatedly, among other things, to "Kill yourself." Instead of apologizing and killing themselves for their bad manners, not to mention for helping to elect a boob....they now want to pretend like we can talk normal people. Well, we can't. We can't have nice things. So I said "Please still keep away from me." Somehow, of all the controversial things that are said in the Red Room, a "You have your space, I have mine," was seen as too "radical." Somehow, that also got interpreted as whining about 100 rep points from 2 years ago. So I explained what it was really about and why. That's about it. Diacanu then translated this thread into his preferred, native language of picture books.
The point, which you still wish to play obtuse about, is that if you use the ignore function you will never have to deal with them again instead of a pointless, never-ending, back and forth dialog of "Leave me alone" "No!" "Leave me alone" *poke poke poke* "Please don't talk to me" "blah blah blah". You can have complete control to block them out and yet still get upset when your words can't control their behavior. You can't control assholes....you can control your exposure to them.
