Batboy is not sure about this. Batboy has an issue with the possibility of using ammo as currency. Sure, Batboy understands ammo would be an extremely valuable commodity in such a situation. However, unless Batboy knows and trusts the person Batboy's trading with, Batboy would be reluctant to hand over something that could be...given back...to Batboy.

Batboy guesses what Batboy is saying is that Batboy thinks toilet paper, cigars, and hard liquor would make better "currency."

Who's talking about criminals? Not the OP. and not anyone prior to my first post in this thread.

I don't misinterpret anything. I'm just pointing out your own hypocrisy here.

Just because you refuse to see it, doesn't mean I don't.

You misunderstand, Batboy. In such circumstances, ammo would be a very valuable currency, but there's a limited number of ways of actually using it in exchange for other commodities: Namely, from the dispenser the ammo fits and directly into the person from which you are purchasing said commodities. Let me illustrate:

Person A has his bunker stocked with survival items, and has his currency, ammo. Person B is attempting to secure Person A's survival items, at which point the transaction begins.

Person A pays with highly valuable ammo, at which point Person B agrees to leave Person A's survival items in the care of Person A. In fact, the payment of said valuable is so appreciated that Person B agrees not to go into any other person's bunker for survival items.

What I love are the folks who say to me "If the SHTF, I'm coming to your place". Yeah and what are you gonna bring to me that would get you in? If it truly is a SHTF situation (not a hurricane or something like that) then I have enough supplies set aside for me and mine. I'm going to endanger our safety why?

Toilet paper is easily replaced with things found in nature. Hard liquor can be distilled. But if you really want to be rich in a TEOTWAWKI scenario, keep a huge stock of cigarettes, well protected from humidity and theft. During the early phase, they will be worth their weight in gold. People have to have their fix.

In the words of the internet subculture:

    Epic fail.

Jenee's next post will be 'No, I really do get it, you guys don't' which will also be mocked.

Your lack of reading skills is the source of your misunderstanding. Recognizing that two categories of people exist is not the same as "dividing into those categories" because "recognizing" them does not mean that all people fit into one of them while "dividing" does. And there is nothing pathetic about recognizing that both categories exist. Those who hoard but do not take into account the reality of thieves, especially in a world marked by a breakdown in centralized government, will be the targets of those thieves. To believe otherwise is to let your idealism lead you to ruin.

Methinks your judgment is both hasty and faulty, and you would do better to rethink it.
