Well, why don't you actually read what he says and tell me yourself. He's got a reputation as the most honest person in Congress, so you can take what he says with a smaller grain of salt than usual.
This guy's an MD, he should know better. A knucklehead like Dubya, you could expect it from. But this guy...tch..
Yeah, I'm seeing a disconnect with a guy who's got a DOCTORATE in biology refusing to accept the theory of evolution. It's like that Muslim soldier that was in the news last year who had a problem with getting deployed to Iraq and killing other fellow Muslims.
If I thought the POTUS was supposed to be the source of Truth for all matters, this would bother me more. But the president doesn't hold such a position in my life, and if he were president I highly doubt he'd make kids learn a Judeo-Christian creation myth as an alternative to actual science. In the video he gets cut off just as he says "I don't think we're at the point were anybody has absolute proof on either side . . ." - I wonder what else he said? Paul's not above pandering, and as he was stammering out his response he seemed to be attempting to stay on the fence. Still, this matter (as well as issues on abortion and homosexuality) will be reasons younger libertarians flock to candidates like Johnson.
People are always going to have more empathy with those they feel they have more in common with, if the US was occupying Canada and killing lots of Canadian civilians I bet plenty of soldiers who have no problems fighting in Iraq or Afghanistan would suddenly find themselves having more qualms.
So, if not Ron Paul, who? Obama? Idiot! Romney? Obama-Lite! Perry? Idiot! Gingrich? Better than Obama, but STATUS QUO, caps intended. Bachman? Batshit crazy, no real plan, and status quo. Huntsman? Hasn't really promoted himself very well. Santorum? Meh! Johnson? Good candidate, good ideas, and if the Republican Party was really paying attention, they be giving him serious consideration instead of ignoring him. As it stands, he's left the Reps and has gone over to the Libertarian Party. I'm afraid all this will accomplish is to split the vote and assure an Obama reelection. Kiss the US' ass goodbye! This evolution thing is a non-issue. On fiscal matters, social issues, and foreign affairs, Ron Paul is the only one that has a plan that actually addresses the real problems and provides a solution. Further, his election would send a message to Congress that we're tired of the same old shit and we want the problems fixed. No other candidate can accomplish that.
If Ron Paul is elected, it's more likely he is going not going to accomplish anything. He'll be impeded even when he just want to go take a piss.
Sorry, but he's not on the ballot and he doesn't have a snowball's chance in Hell as a write-in. This presidential campaign is not a joke. It's the most serious race in America's history since the election of George Washington. We're at the point of either fix it or fall flat on our faces. The fall will not be fun or funny.
Probably so. This problem has been 150 years in the making. The difference now is that the wall we're about to slam is within sight.
Personally, if the economy is so precarious, what I'd be looking for is a leader that's willing to try new things, but also a leader that's willing to forgo ideological purity, who will embrace what works and abandon what doesn't. Does anyone really think a medical doctor that rejects evolution is that kind of a leader?
The humor may be in horribly bad taste and mock dire real-world stuff, like laughing about the holocaust or people losing their houses in tsunamis, but it's still definitely a fucking joke.
Again: evolution is a non-issue. Forgo ideological purity? That's Ron Paul. Try new things? That's Ron Paul. Embrace what works and abandon what doesn't? That's Ron Paul.
Directly? No, it's not directly an issue. But it is a glaring example of an intellectual blind spot. Are you sure that's the only one he's got? Then why doesn't he believe in something he's seen evidence of with his own eyes?
If all the horrible people and things of the world go with me, then I welcome death like a lover. :sip:
He wasn't around when man and apes evolved from the common ancestor. He's only 76. Maybe he's been busy with more important things in government.
Hmmmm....well, the current President was a neophyte who claimed to be a Bible-believing Christian (who didn't make any apparent stand for or against evolution - so why not let's take him as advertised on his choice of cosmology), and apparently the American electorate thought he was a fine choice, insofar as 'kinds of leaders go'. Who did you vote for last time around?
Stephen Harper. Well, technically I voted for Laurie Hawn, the local Conservative candidate, but Harper was the leader of the party. Regardless, did you miss the part about Paul being a medical doctor? Guy's got a Bachelors in biology and Ph.D in medicine. He should know better than most.
