link Guns don't kill terrorists. People with F-15's kill terrorists! Luckily there's no pipeline involved or this deal would've been DOA. I wonder whether Holder got a commission on this sale... .
Neat. Maybe in 20 years or so, when diplomatic relations sour and they start misbehaving, we can invade on the pretense of recovering these weapons, while the rest of the world pretends they never existed. And when we fail to turn up these long since worn out/used up/lost/destroyed weapons, the global anti-US peanut gallery can sing a self-impressed chorus about it until they fucking hyperventilate and pass out.
Goddammit! When are these fucking politicians in Washington going to learn that not only are the Saudi's not our friends, but that their culture and society flies directly in the face of all our most cherished freedoms! The only way we should be sending F-15's to Saudi Arabia is fully loaded and targeting Mecca!
I Didn't say that it bothered me the Israelis disapproved. I said that they wouldn't like it either. Does it bother you that Obama's playing Fast 'n Furious, round II with the Saudis?
Not what I was talking about. Remind me again of how much of a stink you made about this under previous administrations.
OK - tell me. And think about the differences between then and now and the goals of those administrations.
Well, not "our", fiends, but with all the pics of Dubya holding hands, and soul kissing Saudi Princes, sure enough THEIR friends. Again, "our", not their. Fuck do they care? They've got all the Great Books Of Western Literature, and the AFI Top 100 in their mountain bunkers.
The F15 has been out of production for years, how are they going to fill the order? I find the arming of Saudi Arabia.....distasteful.
You know, we could sell the Saudis everything we have, current gen, and still beat the snot out of them. :|
Two shitty presidents in a row that never hesitate to espouse freedom, but have no problems accepting cash from and supplying weapons to some of the least free places on the planet? I mean that should be the point, right?
This is back to the Cold War mentality. Arming the enemy of my enemy is fine regardless of the consequences. We never learn. BTW, I don't think Israel is as upset as you think. Clandestine cooperation between Israel and Saudi over Iran is way up.
The US hasn't bought F-15s for a long time, but the line has remained open to fill foreign orders (though at an extremely slow rate). AFAIK, they've been building about one a month for countries like South Korea and Singapore.
This is one way the government can keep the suppliers of our military in business without spending lots of us tax dollars.
Who cares? The Saudis have had F-15s and M-1 Abrams tanks for more than 20 years now. And E-3 Sentry AWACs radar planes for that matter. Not to mention a bunch of other things sold to them by the U.S. Ultimately, arms sales from the U.S. helps make the Saudi regime somewhat dependent on the U.S. because who is going to service and repair those F-15s and Abrams ten years down the road? Not the Iranians, Chinese, or Russians.
Dunno, I'd think how many F-15's would cause some to care. They are getting more modern versions and many more. It is hard to argue that once someone has some aircraft, giving them a bunch more is no cause for concern.
As do I. Every time we sell weapons to one of these ME shitholes, we wind up having to fight them and getting our kids killed with weapons Made in America. Stop arming them and they won't have anything to fight with. It's further distasteful that our own air fleets are aging and falling apart, but we're arming and equipping everybody else with the new stuff.
So they can sign a multi-billion dollar deal with a nation friendly to terrorists all in the veil of job creation, but they can't approve a pipeline that would help the US from needing Saudi oil. You can see quite clearly where their priorities are, and whose hand is in their pocket.
Really? You think the French and Russians wouldn't sell them weapons instead? Get real. And do you have any evidence that a single American soldier has ever been killed by a U.S. weapon sold to a Middle Eastern govt.? I think the U.S. Justice Dept. does far worse than this.
I'm with Dayton. Who cares? I mean if they get snappy we've got all these new F-22 to fight them..... How many do we have again? Oh never mind. Stop selling shit to these people!!
