Yeah, this is my impression as well. Attacks on domestic soil are so rare, but when they happen we tend to respond in an appropriately self-defensive manner. We've been attacked overseas plenty of times and we manage to get by without bombing the shit out of a country. Hell, Iranians took one our embassies hostage and we didn't go to war with them.

What part of the response is fucked up? Superstorm Sandy did far less damage and caused far fewer fatalities than Katrina did. The only stories about poor response that I've heard are people without power for a few weeks, which speaks more the incompetence of local utility agencies than anything (and which happens pretty much whenever power goes out during even a thunderstorm). Is anyone still flooded in and is anyone dying?

RE: local preparedness, at least in NY, there's this:

NY Attorney General Investigates Utilities over Superstorm Sandy

I'm in touch with folks who are volunteering for cleanup on Staten Island every weekend and organizing food and clothing drives the rest of the week. If there were shenanigans in NY, the people onsite would be aware of them.

Unless frontline's talking exclusively about NJ, it's not clear what he'd know that the people actually clearing the debris wouldn't.

Now hold on now. I'd like to hear about these embassy attacks during the Bush administration. I'd also like to hear how many US diplomats and security personnel were killed.

The last embassy attack that springs to mind is the bombings in Kenya. On Clinton's watch. :marathon:

Or that bringing up what happened during the Bush years is "blaming Bush."

Not that he ever existed, of course.

What I find remarkable is that this incident is still developing. People are still gathering facts and I do hope that the people responsible for it are brought to justice and soon.

The first 9/11, goons from the other side if the world flew planes into buildings and killed 3,000 of our own... and we invaded Afghanistan in late October and Iraq the following March based off faulty information.

This time, the GOP is up in arms because the we didn't call a much subtler attack an act of terrorism for 2 weeks while our intelligence community was still gathering facts.

I'm sure that there are top notch people working on it but the truth is that we've got to be smarter about how we respond to terrorism going forward. We played Billy Bad-Ass last time and the truth is that we can't afford another 10 years like the last.

Wow. Why the post announcing that baba's intellect trounces your own, that EP is more sober than you are, and that Karl Rove is less of a partisan hack than you are?

You can't be this illiterate and this retarded, can you? But this would also be a pretty fucking lame troll on your part.

Of course it doesn't matter whether you're a moron or a lame troll. Either way you should just go away and desperately try to pay men at truck stops to let you suck their cocks since that's the most fulfilling your life will ever get.

You can't really blame Volpone. When Bush's Homeland Security Reports on Terrorism showed an actual increase in global terrorism in 2003-4, he simply had them stop collecting data about terrorist attacks in tabulated reports.

I deny your premise. Plenty of people on both sides noticed and cared.

Bush can't be wiped from the history books. He's too useful to Obama as an excuse for a failing economy, even four years later.

I have to draw attention to this post. IMHO Liet is severely underrated on WF. His FAR (flames above replacement) has to be >15.

It's not just the sheer volume of insults on a per post basis, but also the hyperbolic nature of them.

Whenever I read a tour de force like the above quote, I think back to a post of his maybe 6 years ago in MC. In one of the many discussions about how terrible Voyager was, he didn't simply say Neelix was a stupid character on a stupid show (as I would, unimaginatively). Instead, he advocated that Neelix went beyond that, and was in fact the worst character ever imagined in the history of literature and western civilization.

Maybe I'm the only one who thinks this is hilarious. Keep it up Liet! :techman:

Continuing to perceive reality through partisan lenses serves you ill bub.

Think about it. Where was the outrage from the left in all the mentioned incidents?

Take off the donkey goggles and answer me this, should anybody give a shit?

I'm going to say yes we should.

What nobody should give a shit about is the letter after a politicians name.

Okay I got nothing, I'm just not a big fan of piling on.

Evidence? Be careful what you ask for. Only Volpone can pull things out of his ass at the same time as he shoves things up there. Volpone's presentations of "evidence" are not fit for human consumption.

You are trying way, way, way, too hard. If you want to troll people in this fashion, the requirement is that your assertion sound slightly plausible.
