I just... I'm grateful the police weren't all wearing leather jackets. The carnage could have been one for the books.

    :sob:

    Nope. Not. Caring.

Don't care for people rioting. Don't care for dummies who decide to walk right up to riot police in the middle of a riot and expect nothing to happen.

I'll let the department decide if the officer pushed her too hard or not.

There are far more important police abuse stories then this one out there.

I'm gonna ease up a bit on Zombie. I watched the video again and did notice that line of cops. Those kids WERE walking up behind them.

Yep...bad move. But still...he coulda swung the baton and got all of them. WHY PICK ON JUST THE ONE CHICK????

    WHY?? :jayzus:

Couldn't he just say "You people get back!!" While holding the baton over his head.

Have you ever been hit with a baton? That's a serious question.

I have. During training. I'd say hitting her, unprotected by pads, with a baton would be as bad as hitting that bench.

And from a limited point of view I'd say the officer concentrated on the girl because she was the only one holding a cup. These officers are having cups (along with rocks, bottles, and firecrackers) thrown at them. Who knows what is in those cups. Probably beer but whose to say some of those cups haven't been filled with urine instead?

    Who says he didn't?

Again this is the problem of the video. Either the front of the video was cut off or the recording started only as the group approached the back of the police line. We the viewing public don't know what if anything was said by police or this group to the police. We are getting a video that is out of context.

It's nice to know clear examples of police brutality draw such a reaction from you.

Yeah, a good 10-20 feet. Which still doesn't excuse tackling some waif rather than calmly and professionally approaching the group and warning them away before escalating appropriately as needed.

Were there any kind of tapes or barricades up? Any signage? Still no excuse for the actions seen in the video.

Yeah, fuck those people trying to peaceably make their way to their vehicle so they can go home.

I, for one, find it fascinating that you're such an apologist for business end of the state use of force given your other political proclivities.

Find me a real case of police brutality. This one can be considered like the Diet Coke of police brutality. Just one calorie, not brutal enough.

As I said above I'll let the department the officer works for decide on it.

Is there always time to put up barricades, signage and tape?

And again you're making a judgement based on a tiny sliver of tape. As usual you fail to understand that things may have happened before that tape started rolling or that the person who posted the tape cut the video in a way to make their side look better.

Again as I said above: Show me a better video and I'll give you a better call on it.

You sound as dumb as the girl who wanted to get to her car by crossing the police line in the middle of a riot.

If I'm on the street and I see a riot happening and I see riot police what would I do? I'd stay away from the rioters. I'd also stay away from the police because in a riot the police are going to assume if you're near them and you're not an officer you're part of the riot. I might get knocked into a bench or something.

I can fucking wait to get my car. Life is not that short that I've got to foolishly cut into the middle of a riot to reach my car.

I find it fascinating that you're a clueless fucking idiot who must not actually read what I write in most threads on police abuse.

I am against police abuse. But I'm not so stupid as you are to assume that every cop is guilty simply because they are a cop. I expect more then a chopped up video. I would like to see the whole video in this case if there is any or an answer to why the guy started recording just seconds before the police made contact with the girl.

See unlike you I demand more then an accusation of abuse. I demand more then a few seconds of video tape.

Yes in this case the tape alone makes the officer look bad. But so what? I bet you can find a lot of tapes that make an officer look bad. But when you find out the rest of the story you realize that officer was in the right to do what they did.

And look how retarded you sound just because I don't match your pre-conceived notions of where I should stand given my other political proclivities. How fucking stupid is that? Because I have certain beliefs I'm expected by you to also be a certain way regarding "police abuse"? Give me this checklist of yours that I've apparently failed to live up too so I could shit on it and slap you in the face with it.

You know who sounds retarded? The guy who constantly rails against the government, then turns around and is an apologist for basically every example of police wrongdoing that's brought up. It's worth noting for the pattern if nothing else.

    Captain X,

Oh well excuse me for fucking believing in the rule of law, investigations and letting justice take its course. (and yes sometimes it goes off course)

I'll just join you and the other lynchers and we'll all start hanging fuckers without investigation or trial.........

And this might be hard for your lizard-addled brain to understand but I can be against government and not against government at the same time.

The video isn't chopped up. Its a clip, if anything. The people are not RIOTING at the moment. The cops are standing their ground and the people are just standing there. There are no altercations seen in the background. If it was a bad as Zombie says, they would working to clear the area. Something might have happened earlier but that whole crowd was not rampaging.

If the person recording cuts off the front of the video then it is indeed "chopped" up. I didn't mean chopped up in this case as in edited to show something that did or didn't happen.

It should be a surprise, I can't remember ever agreeing with Liet before. I'm curious to know what you won't defend. Cops firing into a crowd at an unarmed man? Totally fine. Body check a 110lbs girl into a bench? Bitch shouldn't have been standing there doing nothing remotely aggressive.
