clean up the original, give it careful new TOS-like effects, burn the 5th season with fire except for the last episode and it's good for another 100 years.

    Tch, fuckin' JMS....

    Dude, don't be a Lucas.
    Don't rape the past.
    Keep writing awesome Superman comics.
We were enjoying that. That made us happy.
    Do more of it.

I'll just throw out that no actor is irreplaceable.

Katsulas and Jurasik were amazing, but I'm sure there are people who could do just as well. As long as they go for talent and not bargain bin pretty boys or something.

In regards to recasting the way I see it is if you can successfully recast such an iconic character as Captain James T. Kirk, then you can recast ANYONE. I loathe the Abramsverse, but I never had problems with Pine replacing Shatner.

Ironic, you see this "can't recast this character" ALL the time. Whenever I've mentioned remaking MASH people come out of the woodwork saying "No way. You can't recast Hawkeye. Alan Alda is Hawkeye".

    No he isn't.

I'm not saying you can't recast G'Kar. I'm saying no-one could do it as perfectly as Andreas Katsulas did.

You so sure of that? I loved Andreas Katsulas and I've liked him in most everything he has been in. But be reasonable, he was by no means and A-List actor.

He was a character actor who picked his shots well. And there are lots of character actors.

Yeah, but G'Kar and Katsulas were freakin' made for each other. I mean . . . holy shit.

All the best lines in the show were G'Kar's, delivered with flawless perfection by Katsulas.

I would disagree with this statement also.

I would also disagree he had ALL of the best lines.

No, he wasn't in other roles -- but as G'Kar, he was absolutely pitch perfect. There was something about that role that set him free as an artist, and I don't know what any better actor could have done to improve his performance.

My guess would be it was the writing. Which bodes well if the same writer redoes the character with another actor. Of course, we have no idea what story JMS will go for, other than being set on a space station. It could be a totally different set of characters.

First order of business in this new reboot, the whole cast will be a human centipede.

I would say it was the actors he interacted with. They all brought out the best in each other.
Face it. No actor can work well if his/her coactors stink.
