This is why I have to laugh at some of the folks around her who complain about liberals. Nobody at Wordforge is in the true liberal wingnut category. By Boston standards, I'm more conservative than some Republicans. Anyway, the bottle bill is stupid, and I'm voting no.
Trust me. I live in Portland. I know there are plenty of people who are even more shrill, condescending, hypocritical, ignorant, and brainwashed than you lot. I just choose not to have discussions with them. I just say "Isn't that nice," pat them on the head, and move on.
Oh, and the other funny thing? You picked this meme up from me. But you can't even get it right. It worked because the photo was of Robin Williams, who'd just killed himself (telling Shartman to kill himself). The "I'm not saying it was aliens..." guy hasn't committed suicide and doesn't tell people to kill themselves, so your whole schtick sucks. Just like everything else you attempt. Sooo...
I most assuredly got the Williams reference. I simply opted to drop the tasteless aspect of poking needlessly at the late, troubled comedy icon, while keeping the true and heartfelt part of the message; which is my desire that you take your own life. Preferably in a fire, but something involving power tools might serve just as well.
Here's more: http://www.whygodwhy.org/t3684-republicans-say-the-darndest-things-megathread A board (or rather, the board for which this is an offshoot of after the original closed) I used to go to until the extremist left assholes there ran off everyone that disagreed with them. And if the idiots had left it like that in the political threads then it would've been okay, but the vitrol went into every fucking forum, including bitching about the snark on fanfiction not being good enough--bt then slinking off when asked to show howit was done. :/ I doubt even Sokar would've berated a poster for putting a thread about his father's death in the wrong forum like these nuts did. But it is ridiculously left wing, so perhaps Dinner will feel at home there.
Tampa bay times may have reported it, but the study was done at .. not Harvard or Yale... can't remember off the top of my head...
If you're talking about environmental science then most of them aren't moon bats as they also have to make businesses decisions. The idealists don't last long especially after they figure out most of their clients are the polluters and your job is to get them off for the least amount of money possible.
I'm on my phone, so I can't find the study as easily as if I were my computer. But it wasn't recent - a year ago maybe. Maybe longer. But it was a study done by college students and ... I hardly think "pants on fire" is an original concept.
Well, he's right in that Politifact uses the 'Pants on Fire' meter as a rating tool. You also might be thinking of Factcheck.org, who uses a similar rating system. That one is decent, though I'm a big fan of Politifact because they are exhaustive, and show their work so you can review it for yourself.
Never heard of either until this thread. I happened across the college study while looking for something else.
They've both been pretty famous since the 2008 election. Politifact seems the better of the two since, as John said, they show their work so anyone can check the checkers and they have even adjusted ratings in the past to take new info into account. Factcheck does a decent job but often they try to split the difference in order to appear neutral but doing so sometimes means they give a "half true" rating to stuff which is just factually false.
Well, that kinda sucks. My cousin went through a similar thing when he worked for a Criminal Defense firm and saw how many lowlifes were getting off on technicalities and decided he'd rather join the Army instead.
You have to divorce yourself from that sort of think otherwise you'd go mad in this profession. Anyhow, what is this thread even about anymore?
Interesting he never asked for his account to be outright deleted then, considering just a fraction of what most people post here could be used to track down their real life identity and a good chunk of their online presence.
I only vaguely know about half the names in this joint, either through ancient crosstraffic with Trollkingdom or those who wound up on my Facebook feed. I do remember Tamar vaguely, she unfriended and blocked me after she tried to point out something anti-disability and anti-democrat and I argued her into a tight little corner she couldn't maneuver out of. Hot tempered little redhead on wheels, IIRC. ANYway, I see no problem with the board and DGAF who's in charge. In fact I must enjoy it more now since it didn't capture my interest the first time I registered...so there you have one vote of confidence. Take it for what it's worth.
I think he was planning on having the people in charge of Dayton's Presidential campaign take care of it when the time came.
Polarslam! I miss Polarslam. Volpone still posts in the Blue Room, then gets dumped on by everyone when he posts elsewhere, so I wouldn't necessarily blame him for wanting to leave...
Is that why they were FB friends? If you must MSU, can you at least try for credibility? This one's more pathetic than your claim that Enterpriser told you he was doing missionary work in Canada.
For what it's worth, I still think it's tasteless. I know you guys are entertained by hurling insults back and forth, but 1) it doesn't make sense, because you'd cease to be entertained if the other person did kill himself and 2) it's wonderfully jarring for anyone who's lost someone to suicide to scroll down and see images ostentatiously promoting such action. YMMV.
You forget how many times even under Elwood's and Lanz's administration Volpone stomped off because no one would run the board the way he wanted, which was pretty much a direct lift of Jeriko's sig about riding liberals like ponies. Volpone's schtick is "Everyone's entitled to an opinion...as long as it's mine."
