So......why do you think going door-to-door would work then? Normal cops won't do it because...you know...too many would get killed. So if the military would suck at it.....how do we get the guns? BTW anyone with brains will hide them off premises knowing not be able to account for a gun they should have will be better than having people in your house where they will find a gun with your fingerprints - which is evidence to prove just about anything they want to prove.
More importantly - "Muslim terrorist attack" doesn't really roll off the tongue. Maybe a better song title would be......confusion? Disturbance? Melee? etc. in the U.K. might be better. Wait, how about this?
Well how else will you get them, because almost nobody is going to turn one in. They found that out in Connecticut when they passed a law that gun owners chose to ignore - in droves.
Same here in Jersey when Florio forced his AWB through. With an estimated 1 million gun owners in NJ, they only got a few thousand AR-15s turned in. And before anybody says "well, at least those are off the street now," they were never ON the street. They were in closets and gun safes, and taken out to shoot targets and game.
It is ok. Over time people will do stupid things like domestic violence, the cops will search the house, and when they do their will be additional charges about possessing an illegal firearm.
Post #57 would have some interesting side effects. For one, no black person would ever be arrested without the police finding a gun on them. Strangely, the same gun would be found in case after case after case, as if it keeps getting resurrected from the evidence locker.
Yep - and if you have been reluctant and a pain in their ass, maybe the second you leave your home to go turn it in they arrest you on suspicion of going to shoot up the joint. After all, you have the means since you have your guns in the car and motivation since you have been at odds with local law enforcement. Telling me this wouldn't happen?
It's interesting how discussions like these bring out the paranoid fantasies of certain gun nuts. Anyway, I suspect Dayton has it right. If ordered to, most people would surrender their guns, some would probably hide them, perhaps a few might try to resist violently, but the number, if above zero, would be vanishingly small; it's one thing to talk big on the internet about how you'd defend your right to bear arms to the death, quite another to actually do so. American gun owners, like those elsewhere, would go out with a whimper not a bang.
So there would be unnecessary violence from police against innocent civilians? In America of all places? Say it ain't so!
Stabbings happen in London everyday, often by lunatics. This one is unusual since this did not result in a fatality. To call this a terrorist attack is absurd.
It is worth remembering what Islam really is: "....that it was founded on the Laws of their Prophet, that it was written in their Koran, that all nations who should not have acknowledged their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as Prisoners" - Thomas Jefferson, 3rd American President "Muhammad declared undistinguishing and exterminating war, as a part of his religion, against all the rest of mankind…The precept of the Koran is, perpetual war against all who deny, that Muhammad is the prophet of Allah" - John Quincy Adams, 6th American President You are not going to appease them and they are not going to stop because they believe God has told them to kill or convert all of the nonmuslims.
“Here in America, Islam has been woven into the fabric of our country since its founding.” - Barrack Obama - worst American President.
If you want to find out about Islam, the first people you should ask are American presidents. In the same way, when I have a question about Calvinism my first port of call is a Quin emperor.
Yeah. That's like saying the best way to find out the truth about Scientology is to ask a Scientologist.
Then you are not very bright. I did indeed buy and read the entire Koran start to finish when I was in Iraq. I have also done the same to the Bible.
The Koran is pretty short, only a fifth as long as the Bible. It was written by an illiterate and it's a confused jumble.
