Perhaps @markb @Lt. Mewa and/or @garamet can confirm this, but the state of New York as a whole is a bit more conservative than NYC by itself is. It's not a swing state, but the right red candidate could make it a close call.

Good old Arnold was able to win that joke of a recall election here in California running as a Republican, and I'm certain that was cuz he was famous already that he got elected.

Well maybe the Democrats should field stronger candidates.

True, but not nearly enough to balance out NYC and its suburbs. In the last Presidential election New York had the highest Democratic vote share of any large- or mid-sized state, and Republicans haven't been competitive in statewide elections in New York since Pataki.

For New York to be in play in a Presidential election, the Republican would have to already have 450+ Electoral votes banked.

I'd like it if we could have a wider variety of political parties, but the GOP or the Dems just grab whatever platform those parties are using and make them irrelevant. The two major parties really *are* too big. No party should be able to wield that much power and influence over another.

I think I should run for President.

Oh, that's easy. I'll just promise to pay, and then as donations come in I'll funnel them through a non-profit organization, an off-shore account, and then back into the U.S. under a different exchange rate, letting it sit in the account until the end of the election so it will all accrue interest. If I win, I'll pardon myself and excuse the debt. If I lose, I'll convince the winner to pay off my debts, and then I walk away with the off-shore holdings as a consolation prize.

On Law & Order (which takes place in NYC) there have been frequent comments about how pro police and conservative people "in Albany" are compared to "in the city(NYC)".

Is that a true analysis or only for television dramatics?

Yes it is. If it's true that the Obamas and a bunch of other top Democrats have just unfollowed Hillary, then it means they've found out what Wikileaks, the FBI, and other intelligence agencies actually have on her and know that it's going to be every man for himself.

wait, let me see if I have this straight:

It is your contention that whether or not one follows an embattled person on Twitter is proof that they are throwing them overboard?

    Seriously?

"Oh shit, Clinton's guilty, what the fuck am I going to do?!?!!?!!?"
    *thinks*
    *has idea*
"Got it! I'll unfollow her on Twitter!!!"

which five do you think he'll win?

I'm going with MS, AL, AR, OK, and KS

But to be fair, I think you're underestimating him. He'll win more than 5

Just my personal opinion, but I think the best thing for the GOP in particular and the country in general would be a narrow Hillary Clinton victory with the GOP retaining control of both houses of Congress.

The GOP maintaining control of the House means a mostly dysfunctional government with a legislative branch that wastes time and money on ridiculous investigations and can't pass any significant legislation, while the GOP maintaining control of the Senate means a completely dysfunctional government as, in addition, the executive branch and courts will remain unstaffed. Either probably ends up in a Constitutional crisis when Clinton tries to keep the executive branch functional.

It's already all but guaranteed that if Clinton wins she will be impeached and removed from office. Her polls are in free fall and she's rapidly becoming toxic. It seems the military and law enforcement personnel want to put her and all her cronies in prison for high crimes and are quite determined to do so.

Realistically, Hillary Clinton can't be impeached for things she did BEFORE becoming president.

And it also depends on the economy. People forget that when Nixon was forced out of office the economy was in a recession.

While Bill Clinton was able to cling to office effectively when the economy was moving along nicely.
