How about we just let consenting adults manage their relationships as they see fit?

    Yep.

If brethren dwell together, and one of them die, and have no child, the wife of the dead shall not marry without unto a stranger: her husband's brother shall go in unto her, and take her to him to wife, and perform the duty of an husband's brother unto her.

In that case I'm not sure why TheLonelyShart has a problem with it. It's straight out of his imaginary sky daddy's book.

I have the same feelings on this as I did with the recent revelation that Charlie Crist is getting a divorce.

You know that was to accomplish several vital functions:

    1) Keep the family inheritances (which were very important in that day) from devolving to persons outside the family.
    2) To extend the protections of the family to the widow. In other words care for the widows.

No need to get defensive. I wasn't judging. I expect primitive bronze age tribes to have primitive bronze age customs/religions.

    What's your objection?

I mean, I could see how a relationship like this could be unhealthy, but it's far from necessary that it is. I wish 'em luck.

With all the people you heterosexual serial monogamists declare off-limits, how the fuck do you people manage to date anyone at all?

If I want to fuck someone, and they want to fuck me, guess what's going to happen? No one else gets a say.

Are you illiterate God boy? It seems your big man in the sky is all for things like this. Plus you should not be judging others over him because he gets angry when you take his job.

Seriously shut the fuck up about God and your religion around here if you cannot deal with what they say is right.

    Oh and stop touching children.

Speaking of touching children, does your family support your lifestyle?

Actually, God supports lots of things you wish he didn't, but that is why you are really not a Christian. Oh, and I am transsexual, not in a religious pedophile ring like you are. Learn to project less, and stop touching little children.

This thread is a beautiful teaching moment that once again proves my point that the whole "objective moral values", argument from the religious is a steaming pile of crap.

If they believed the Bible was the source of objective values, they wouldn't dare to cherry-pick anything out, but they do.
    Why do they cherry-pick?
Because the things they pluck out, like widow-fucking, they find disgusting.
How do they morally decide that?
Because morals don't come from the Bible, they come from wherever atheists get them too.

Hell, there's passages where God admits to mistakes, and has regrets.
If God can regret, then GOD gets morals from somewhere outside of himself.
    So, morals precede God.

    You're done, religion.
    Your argument is lost.
    Objective morals? Fail.
    Consoling the grieving? Fail.
    Accurately describing our origins? Fail.
Giving clear reliable repeatable insights into human nature? Fail.
Those were all your jobs, religion.
    And you blew it.
It's an all F report card.

Of course, this won't stop Dayton and/or Federal Farmer from putting up some pathetic boring refutations I'll knock down in a couple seconds.
And, it won't stop them from ignoring what I said.
But they have to try, don't they?

You are not a transsexual. You're a man and always shall be. You may hate yourself for it, but try to think of the embarrassment you bro g to your family. Maybe you should start another RR thread about how drugs are food for you and how they allow you to escape? You can run as far as you want but you'll never escape what you truly are. A man who wants to use the women's bathroom prey on little girls. :(

David was severely punished for his adultery. Death of his infant son. His favorite sons (Absalom) rebellion and subsequent death in the Civil War he started.

The children of the widow (fathered by the brother in law) are not biologically that of the dead man but LEGALLY that of the dead man. Thus keeping his portion of the family inheritance in the family and not having it dispersed if the widow remarries.

Geez, you'd think David would be punished by punishing David, not his kids...
David got to not only live, but have a healthy pair of balls and yogurt cannon to make more kids with.
