So? Do you think Abrams would say if the movie sucked, and not do all that he possibly can to hype it up?
It very well could be James Cameron praising Genisys all over again. But, I've never known JJ to be prone to "deserves an Oscar", level hyperbole before. With a lack of mind reading powers, I choose to be optimistic.
Certainly, we haven't seen anything that would make us equate them so far. That's not to say that the actors in Star Wars are bad actors, only that the material doesn't lend itself to actors seeking out dramatic depths in their characters.
Not sayin' it can't happen, just that, given the material, it's not likely to. Comic book films are actually a much more diverse set of movies than Star Wars films, which pretty much occupy their own niche. A comic book movie can be unsophisticated and silly, or it can be serious and deeply dramatic. Just compare the Batman films made over the years to see how much diversity the genre can sustain! Star Wars films have to stay within the tone and conventions of the franchise. You're never going to see an R-rated Star Wars, for instance.
I think that I speak for everyone here when I say that were anyone to give an awesome performance in an SF/fantasy film, we'd nut ourselves. This isn't to say it isn't possible, or that it hasn't been done (see Hugh Jackman's performance in The Prestige for an example of an actor who fucking mopped the floor in a film), but Follywood rarely gives out awards for those most deserving of them.
Luke's first words revealed!! http://www.superherohype.com/news/3...st-jedi-footage-details-luke-skywalker-speaks
I figure the Jedi never get anything like omniscience. They gets bits and pieces of things that are happening--or that might happen--that involve powerful emotions. Obi-Wan and Anakin never got any warnings from the force that the Chancellor was a Sith Lord, so clearly Jedi "precognition" only goes so far. So, Luke might sense that the Force "surrounds" Rey, but he may have no other ideas about who or what she is.
I wonder if in Episode VIII we'll be told exactly what Snoke & Kylo Ren are in regards to The Force, really & especially The Dark Side. I have this feeling that Snoke is NOT a Sith. And I doubt Kylo Ren is a Sith as well. Especially given Kylo was Master of a Dark Side contingent called The Knights of Ren. Or still is their Master? So given the facts we know from "The Force Awakens", it's logical to conclude that at least Kylo Ren is not a Sith, being he has a bunch of Dark Siders under his tutelage. I guess Snoke could turn out to be a Sith(?), but I have a feeling he isn't a Sith. Assuming Snoke & Ren comprise some other, or even completely new Dark Side contingent, I'm just glad they're getting away from George Lucas's silly & unnecessary Rule of 2 for the Sith.
Some other report says that "who are you?", is cut in from some later scene in the movie. Also, remember, Maz Kanata said "you are you?", in the TFA trailer, and that wasn't even in the movie.
The Rogue One trailers had a lot that wasn't in the movie. If he doesn't know who she is then she must not be a Skywalker.
