"They hate us for our freedom" may be simplistic, but it's accurate. They hate the western world, (except for things like Nike and Coca-cola) they don't like our way of living and they want to create a Caliphate. As @Dinner said, they want to remake the world to their vision. Until the people in that region rise up and learn to play nice with the rest of the world, this will never stop.
