Okay, here's what we know for sure is in phase 4. (Even though it won't be called phase 4) Guardians Vol 3. Dr. Strange 2. Spider-Man Homecoming 2. Ones we can probably assume... Black Panther 2. Ant-Man 3. Captain Marvel 2. Avengers 5. That's 7. Phase 3 is 9. Just need 2 more...
I suspect we'll see more team-up orientated films, we've had Civil War do so, and also with the forthcoming Homecoming and Ragnarok. Standalones are difficult to justify if they keep to the usual villain recipes - they need to be personal and low-scale or be elsewhere in the MCU, otherwise the question becomes about why the Avengers aren't rocking up to investigate. Thor: "Tony, someone hath turned Manhatten into... Maggothatten?" Stark: "Pepper left me and I'm having schwarma shits, so yeah, see if Vision and Scarlet Witch..." Thor: "They're... Visiting someone. Umm... Black Widow's long lost cousin who, for some reason, is in... Antarctica? Is she a penguin?" Stark: "Wow... The script writers are really running out of reasons for us to not get involved aren't they?" Thor: "It would be seem so. Apparently I'm now the God of Agoraphobia, so must stay in too. I shall head-butt my hammer instead. Odin's Beard! These script writers are terrible!" Previously it's been about cost and balancing the story, but Marvel seem to have cracked those.
Hmm, you're right... Guardians 3 will probably have Hulk. Dr. Strange 2 will probably have Thor. Spider-Man Homecoming 2 will probably have Cap (cuz they just already did Iron Man). Black Panther 2 will probably have Bucky and Hawkeye. Ant-Man 3 will have...Groot? Captain Marvel 2 will have....would Black Widow be too obvious?
^I don't imagine any character who's got their own movie series will be a second banana in another series. My guess is that Guardians 3 will have NO characters from the superhero part of the MCU. If Dr. Strange 2 has anyone, it will be a lower profile Avenger (Falcon, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch). Spider-Man Homecoming 2? I think they'll want to see Spidey fly on his own. Black Panther 2? Unknown, though Bucky's probably not a bad guess. Ant-Man 3? I dunno, Ant-Man and Falcon have a pretty good rapport. Captain Marvel 2? Black Widow? I'm picturing the Captain Marvel/Widow crossover I'd like to see...
I could see Spidey in GotG3 as it's also a shoe-in to get Venom and fits the humour better. Rocket: "Nah, this Ravager crap heap ain't cool, but some of the stuff we've, errr, y'know kinda, sorta picked up" Spidey: "Stolen?" Rocket: "Judgemental for something further down the foodchain than myself. But yeah, here it is" Opens door. Black goop slams into Spidey. But depends on Sony and how Infinity War pans out. If Spidey is left in space at the end, and GotG bring him back, Homecoming 2 would be a homecoming after all. And yeah, Widow/Marvel would work well. If the MCU plays up on Danvers espionage past the story practically writes itself - Widow and Danvers separately, and unknowing of the other, infiltrate an organisation. Fistful of Dollars would make a nice template with the villain playing their undercover roles against each other, and it not being a Danvers powerfest. And depending on how Ant Man and the Wasp plays out, Ant Man 3 could even bring in the Microverse with Dr Strange. I've honestly no ideas with Hulk. A buddy movie with Banner and an excised Hulk would be fun, but unlikely ever to happen even though the plot writes itself, no one seems to want a Hulk standalone and there are the Universal issues. Only thing I could reasonably think of would be a Strange/Hulk team-up similar to the comics where Strange sent Hulk through other realities, maybe to eventually go smash Dormammu. A Black Panther sequel, if based in Wakanda, has at least a reason to be standalone.
Anya Taylor-Joy and Maisie Williams are Magik and Wolfsbane in "The New Mutants". http://www.superherohype.com/news/396991-new-mutants-cast-2
I don't know who Anya Taylor-Joy is, but I suppose she is capable of looking the part for Magik. Maisie Williams is... meh.
See "The Witch". It's really good. She really wanted the role, so I wanted it for her. Hope she's better than on Dr. Who.
AintItCool had a video of Michael Giacchino conducting the orchestra for Spider-Man: Homecoming that it promised would blow my mind. Yep, mind blown. This is soooooo awesome.
My God, I didn't realise they were doing an homage to the old intro in the Homecoming soundtrack! That's incredible! What times we live in.
The tone for Fox's "New Mutants", will be horror. http://www.superherohype.com/news/3...e-plot-details-revealed-horror-tone-confirmed
Reading that it sounds like they're making a fairly major mistake, going down the path Warner has done with its superhero stuff and getting almost none of it right.
I'm not familiar with the New Mutants, but I agree with @Lanzman, it just reads like, "I don't care, I'm just going to do what I want."
The Silver Sable & Black Cat movie will be called "Silver and Black", and will be directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood. Are you a non-comics fan who doesn't know who those characters are? Exactly. But, no one knew the Guardians Of The Galaxy, so....we'll see.
I guess if it's done well, it doesn't have to be a well-known property in order to succeed, but... ...I still think we've got to be getting to the saturation point.
The big brother from "Stranger Things", is going to be Cannonball in "New Mutants". http://www.superherohype.com/news/398265-new-mutants-cast-adds-stranger-things-star-charlie-heaton
Moonstar and Sunspot cast in "New Mutants". http://www.cbr.com/foxs-new-mutants-finds-its-danielle-moonstar/
*Sigh* now "Silver & Black", is prequel to the full "Glass Ceiling", idea anyway. All their ideas are back. They never went away. Sony learned nothing. http://www.darkhorizons.com/silver-black-to-launch-female-spider-verse/
"Let's build a franchise using characters that mainstream audiences have never heard of!" Might work, but the odds aren't good, sez I.
