I haven't logged in in so long that the company has changed hands twice or thrice and now my password to my account is irretrievably gone. They reset it for me (just because reasons, I guess) and have mailed my temp password to an email address that doesn't exist anymore. And since I can't log in to my account because the temp password went to an email address that no longer exists, I can't even change my email address in my account. So.... sayonara STO. You were fun for a little while!
I haven't played the game over 3 years. Well sort of, I installed it on my PS4 and thought I could log in using my existing account. Nope, need to start all over again. So didn't even play the game, just downloaded the game and once I found out I have to start again I deleted the game.
I had a similar experience. Moved and simultaneously switched to a new computer. The server didn't recognize me even though I put in the right password and everything. I got plenty of fun out of it, time to move on I guess.

CBS finally let them have the Connie at T6, huh? Anything for cash, I guess. Have they introduced the Discovery as a lockbox ship yet? Or given out spore drives? I might just pay cash for a drive system that makes me trip balls whenever I use it.
I knew there was a reason I hated you. The one ship I've wanted since the game launched almost six years ago and they're going for astronomical prices on the black market on the PC servers. The exchange price limit was increased from five hundred million energy credits, to seven hundred and fifty million energy credits, to a billion energy credits, and now two billion energy credits just to accommodate those sales and it's still not enough. One of the guys I know who still plays the game got three of them from the Pheonix boxes. He used one, is hording one, and sold one for four billion energy credits. Four...billion.
Discovery uniforms are out and currently free, but that's it so far. The T6 Connie is a temporal light cruiser, so I get command and temporal operative slots as well. On PS4 at least, you can get them right now as a random drop when you buy an R&D pack. I haven't seen them in the Phoenix packs, though. I just got an Epic drop today, and the only T6s available were Breen, Kobali, and Lukari. I picked up the Lukari science frisbee for my Romulan engineer.
You're right. I meant R&D packs, not the Pheonix boxes. I'll continue to make due in my T6 Excelsior (yay, Lifetime Sub stipend!), Kelvin Connie, and Vengeance. Thanks to buying a lifetime sub two days after launch, I've picked up the T6 Galaxy-X, T6 Galaxy, T6 Excelsior, T6 Miranda, and T6 Defiant for free.
Whelp, logged back in for the first time in several months to find there's a new mission where you rescue Martok (presumed dead previously) voiced again by J.G Hertzler and still fucking awesome, plus appearances by Tony Todd and Michael Dorn. Then onto two missions involving Captain LaForge of the USS Challenger. Just having the voices back nattering about Klingon honor or warp core resonance frequencies is a trip down pleasant memories. Mmmmmm.
That new Colony Fleet Holding is YUGE! It's about the same size as the original Risa map and about 1/3-1/2 of the new Risa map.
So finally got the computer fixed and can play games again. On Steam though I'm reading recent reviews that have said this game is now just one giant clusterfuck of pay-2-win. Is it true? I don't mind paying a little here and there to support a game I like but if it's big money in order to even have a chance of competing I'm going to skip.
It's absolutely not true. There's premium stuff you can buy if you feel like it, but none of it is necessary to finish the game or to be competitive. You get the best equipment from completing story missions, and you can pick up top-level ships for free during reputation events they have a few times a year. If you really want a ship from the store, you can trade the dilithium you earn from missions for store currency. I have four top-tier ships across my account (Breen, Ferengi, Lukari, and a Constitution class) and a Borg bridge officer, and I've never paid a cent.
The game is very much "Pay to make the grind easier." But, it is not "Pay to win." I enjoyed rolling a TOS toon and playing that from a different perspective.
For five of the game's six year life span, PvP was a joke. It existed as part of the game in name only. It was pretty nifty in that first year, but it was quickly powercreeped to death with PvE skills and gear that were disgustingly and brokenly OP in PvP. The tiniest of effort has been put in to rectify that, but it's still far, far, far from being a functional, enjoyable, and competitive part of the game. Edit: That's why the KDF was doomed from the start. For most of the first year, it was a PvP only faction. Beyond only the most basic tutorial, there was no story or PvE. The only way to gain XP and thus, level your toon, was through PvP. Now you're in the vicious loop of no one plays KDF, so we're not going to really put time and money in to the KDF, so no one plays KDF.
If anyone happens to have a PS4 and Playstation Plus, they're giving out free Steamrunner Bundles presently.
Hello all. I'm playing on the PS4. They're about to add some new Discovery gamble boxes. Black Alert!
Did you get your free Lukari ship and all the other free swag this week? I'm working on picking up the T6 Bajoran Interceptor as well.
The secret is don't buy a ton of keys and open boxes, save up EC and buy them off of the exchange. That's how I got mine. I waited till I saw one for sale for 120 million EC and got it since I've saved much more than that. Craft valuable stuff and sell them on the Exchange, and likewise sell any valuable stuff that you come across but do not want to keep. For example, sell some of those weapon packs that you don't need. If you've opened some but haven't equipped them (that binds them to you) the sensor-linked phasers and disruptors can sell for the most money since they boost critical damage.
That's the way a buddy of mine does it. Gaming is his hobby and he has a budget of a few hundred dollars per month for it. So, he buys $100 worth of keys per month and sells them on the exchange. Along with crafting and other stuff, he makes about a billion EC's per month. For him, the exchange is just another mini-game like any other, this one just involves real people. That's how he has a T6 Connie for every single one of this Federation toons.
The fourth expansion: Victory Is Life in June of 2018. http://www.arcgames.com/en/games/st...-life-our-fourth-expansion,-coming-june-2018! "In addition to these new cast members and features, Victory is Life will raise the Star Trek Online level cap to 65, introduce a new queue, new progression systems, and will add a Sector Battlezone, a new gameplay feature that takes players into a war between the stars to save the Gamma Quadrant."
I can't believe they're keeping the other 6 DS9 characters "a secret," given we've already had Worf, Nog, and Leeta appear.
