At any rate, IIRC Jones will have to run for reelection in 2020. With any luck the state Republican Party will find a reasonable sane candidate and get rid of Jones.

This write in business sounds very similar to the "But Hillary won the popular vote" caveat the Democrats were whining about last year. True, but irrelevant. So to all butthurt Moore supporters, I can only say GET OVER IT YOU LOST KEK LOL

The backtracking dribble is funny but what is astounding is that he (your man) never fails to make it all about him...... "I was right" and then qualify's it with some get out..... "the cards were stacked against him"

Really, whats his ego problem? Small cock? picked on at school by girls?

Needs a swift kick in the balls to be honest.

The write-in was large enough to cover the spread between Moore and Jones.

If even half of those write-ins vote for Moore than Moore is Senator.

So yes the write-ins did have an affect on the election.

Sure. Like I said: true, but irrelevant. Jones won, Moore lost.

As they always do. In this case, they even had an effect. And @ohdeve is right: Both are now irrelevant.

Of course it's irrelevant now but it doesn't change my initial opinion. Doug Jones should be thanking all those people who did a write-in vote. Without them he's not a Senator.

Okay. So can we all agree that if half of the people that voted against Moore had voted for Moore, he would have won?

    The above is incorrect.

    Jones 49.9%
    Moore 48.4%
    Write In 1.7%

And that scenario requires over 20,000 people to have been so befuddled by this ballot --

    Screenshot_20171213-183425.jpg

-- that they wrote in a guy whose name was already on the ballot, and immediately above the write-in line, no less.

Even for Alabama, that seems like a stretch.

A write in vote against Moore was still a vote against Moore.

I think you're overstating the importance of the write in votes to the outcome. The real takeaway is that a lot of voters stayed home.

A lucky Lt. Gov who move up when the Luv Guv got booted.

Roy will be happy to tell them it's sinful to have a woman in office.

how do you know that if forced into a binary choice all of them would have voted for Moore? (as opposed to staying home for one obvious alternative)
