https://www.yahoo.com/news/dhs-cyber...154514381.html Just FYI even the Trump appointed head of the Department of Homeland security has had to admit that Russian state backed hackers broke into the voter registration systems in 27 states. Now, by itself that doesn't mean vote totals were altered but there is no reason why that could not also have been done. BTW no one has thoroughly examined if that happened or not largely because Trump has said he thinks doing so would be a waste of money. Color me me not reassured.
I wonder what how it would be handled if it were revealed that Russia actually did manage to manipulate vote totals.
You know it's funny how everyone obsessed with this seems to completely miss the fact that if anyone was actually to benefit from this, it would probably actually be by undermining the office of the POTUS itself, which is actually what's been happening. And all this by allegedly hacking the DNC and just revealing the truth to the American people.
https://www.yahoo.com/news/george-w-bush-apos-apos-100217134.html Even George W. Bush is basically calling Trump a liar and admitting the Russians meddled in the 2016 election.
Yet the Russians hacked the RNC as well but decided not to release those; only the DNC info was released. Also, no, it didn't release any truth. All it was was a few out of context quotes edited to appear the opposite of what the writer actually said. That is the opposite of truth.
What's done is still done; it's hard to imagine any scenario that would result in an election being voided after it's been certified. But that's also probably irrelevant because the odds of vote totals being successfully altered by a hacker are astronomically low. At least where I live, the machines aren't connected to the internet, every jurisdiction counts and reports its numbers separately, and tampering with enough machines to change the results without arousing suspicion would require, among other things, dozens if not hundreds of simultaneous physical break-ins, perfectly forged seals to cover the storage card slots with, and so on.
There was this bit from last year: Georgia destroyed election data right after a lawsuit alleged its voting system might have been hacked.
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...t-step-down-amid-political-attacks/325042002/ Rachel Brand is stepping down. Who is she? Well, if Trump sacked Rosenstein or he resigned under pressure, she would have been the one in charge of the special counsel. Now I don’t even know to whom it would fall.
It looks like Trump wants his yesman in place as #3 at the FBI so that when/if he actually does move to fire Rosenstein he has a corrupt crony just waiting to officially take the spot.
The Russians see the Republicans as allies in their fight to enrich themselves. People want to make this into an "Us vs. Them" fight on the lines of nationalism, but the truth is that neither the Kremlin or the White House ultimately care about such things. In the end, they both drape themselves in the flag to increase their personal wealth and power. That's why ultimately neither taken steps against the other. The same alliance is played out between Capitol Hill and the White House - ideologues like Paul Ryan are more than happy to work with Donald Trump because ultimately their goals align. Take from everyone, give nothing in return. That's the goal: to drown yourself in greed and gold.
The Russians don't consider any of us their allies. At best they might consider some Americans to be useful idiots - like say all the people trying their best to undermine the office of the POTUS. Man, if there is a foreign interest behind all this, it has absolutely been successful.
Each of those sentences is true. Trump is a useful idiot, and he is undermining the office of the President.
So are the regressive leftists fantasizing that they can somehow undo the election and going on with the "not my president" bullshit. Which is especially hilarious in light of all the whining about how Obama was the most disrespected president ever, and Clinton going on about how anyone who didn't accept the results of the election was a threat to democracy, and the #LoveTrumpsHate bullshit.
Trump refuses to release the second, Dem memo. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-43012430 Fine. If we don't get both sides of the story, then the first memo is null and void.
Just read the memo out loud in Congress. The constitution says no one can be charged with anything for what is read in Congress so Republicans can't play legal games, that gets the true information out, and Republicans no longer get a free pass on their lies.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.vo...997508/rachel-brand-resigns-doj-trump-mueller Trump pressured her to go away and now he gets to name the #3 at the FBI who gets to be Mueller's boss if he fires Rosenstein or gets Rosenstein to step down for some reason. This is definitely a major development and not a good one.
This is why I hate the touch screen system. No paper trail. Scantron is the best way to go. Fast, efficient and capable of a manual recount if necessary
Democrats should just leak it. Or do what Dinner said and read it in the House. But wait...... They know that would be a bad move since they loaded the thing up with classified information that the FBI and the DOJ sent a letter to White House warning that the memo would be bad to release. So Trump sent it back and told them to work on it with the DOJ/FBI to make a new memo.
I doubt anyone intentionally liaded it up with classified info. It is just the info which proves Trump and Republicans are lying as always just happens to come from classified sources. Trump is very happy to keep hiding it, while last week he didn't give a shit about burning classified sources with his lying fake memo, because he wants to hide his criminality. So all if this is already burned because of Trump and tge Republican shit stains so might as well have all the info out in tge open so Trump can't keep lying.
it has been the consensus of, basically, everybody that recognizes the fact of their meddling here and elsewhere that the goal of the Russians is now, was not, and never has been the empowerment of a particular political agenda in the target nation, but to increase political instability and chaos in the target nation. Thus, the obvious upside play was the election of the Chaos Candidate. Mission accomplished.
There should be no question that the Russians interfered in our election process. The question is: 1: In what ways did they meddle? 2: How successful were their efforts? Mueller is simply trying to determine if anyone is responsible for helping them meddle. Proceeding from that point, the investigation has been prudent and worthy of our support.
Keep in mind that if Watergate happened today, the base wouldn't turn on Nixon. They won't turn on Trump if it comes out that Putin pissed in his mouth. Does the Republican establishment want to face tough primary challenges by pissed off deplorables? No way. Trump is here to stay. And the Republicans will win in November. And liberal will continue to be a dirty word.
Hey man, use spoiler tags if you're going to discuss Piss Tape 2: The Pissening. Some of us haven't seen the first Piss Tape yet.
