It's particularly funny given that all Delta really did was stop giving preferential treatment to NRA members.

But then, that shouldn't be surprising. "If you don't give us extra privileges, that means you're persecuting us" has been the rallying cry of the American Conservative Whining Brigade for decades.

 

Did they check up on every other recipient of tax relief? Perhaps there is someone else that isn't offering NRA benefits yet.

 

This thread would be incomplete if I didn't mention that I am glad to see Delta punished. Fuck Delta. I still want my luggage back. It will have been ten years this summer. Fuck, fuck, fuck Delta.

Why was Delta getting a tax break on jet fuel to begin with?

 

Because capitalism.

 

Ostensibly due to the fact that Georgia already has some of the highest jet fuel taxes in the US and, since Delta is based in Atlanta and flies a lot out of Hartsfield-Jackson, it gets disproportionately hit.

It was recently suggested to cut the break as part of paying for a $900 million transport funding bill, but since the bill passed there have been moves to reinstate it.
