Everyone should just play this song when that happens. CNN is reporting that George HW Bush's last words were on a phone call with W, it was "I love you too."
A more rounded view. Also, it’s World AIDS Day. So let’s remember what George H.W. Bush did about that: - banned HIV+ people from entering the U.S. - reduced research funding - favored abstinence education over actual sex ed including safer sex practices - over a 100,000 died of AIDS on his watch
I would stand at least that far away from him given his love for pinching asses and his nickname for himself which was David-cop-a-feel.
The first anywhere-near clear memory of politics or world events in general that I have is watching the Electoral College results come in on election night in 1992. Related:
Bush was pretty well corrupt. His time was very different when it was really hard to find information outside of the major media outlets who were all given their talking points in return for being allowed to have access to the president. There was no real home internet and the web might have been in development but certainly had not yet been released. He was the one who made the blood for oil war a thing. He was part of the US power regime who created Saddam and gave him weapons and power to fight their enemies in Afghanistan. He was a part of creating OBL and training him and what was the noble resistance to Russia, aka terrorists if you were not watching propaganda like rambo 3. He was VP during the Iran contra affair and he was the political clout for Reagan at the time. Reagan was an actor, Bush sr. was the political power behind him. Bush Sr. was probably the last best whitewashed president. better access to information has given us a much better view of the later presidents. As for class Bush was a part of the handsy old white dude brigade. Don't think he just became a dirty old man with his David cop a feel line before he died. That was what he was used to doing. That was what men in power in his day got to do. When we see that as an elderly man he continued to grab ass we know he learned that and was not a nice respectful dignified man. Of course, compared to trump and his son he was a dream.
I remember when he chose to vomit in the leader of japan's lap at a dinner. Yes, by today's standards that is the least of our worries. Back then it was undignified and quite the thing. Choosing a foreign leader's lap as your vomit bag was considered a poor choice in the good old days. Anyone else remember the days when we used to hope our president would not vomit again on foreign leaders during an important dinner?
I imagine it'll be like what happened when Margaret Thatcher shuffled off, but bigger. Possibly it'll be a national holiday
I am personally hoping we get the announcement from the warden where he is incarcerated. Hoping, but not holding my breath.
"the office has been turned into a joke by an unintelligent, narcissistic wannabe tinpot dictator." So Theresa May (I'm terrible with names) isn't measuring up over there? I'm sure things will turn around for your little island.
With Brexit Theresa May has probably the single greatest challenge faced by a British Prime Minister since WWII. Yet she still manages to conduct herself with more dignity than the orange buffoon. If you don't like the fact that you elected a an unintelligent, narcissistic wannabe tinpot dictator, instead of lashing out at foreigners who are laughing at the joke you have turned your country into, maybe you should look at what has led to the ridicule. The vote of you and many morons like you. Once again, own your own mistake.
Yeah but the only difference between you and the Taliban is the part of the world you were born in so your opinion ain't worth much.
How does it feel now that trump has put republicans below crack whores and heroin junkies on the dignity scale?
You know what? Fuck you . Bush is no more responsible for people who died from aids than any other president is responsible for cancer deaths "on their watch." The fact that you would try to say something like that in a thread about his death is just sad.
He contributed to their deaths by the policies I listed. Why should we whitewash his record because he has died? All that does is distort history and ensure that no lessons are learnt.
No one's whitewashing anything. The guy just died and was loved by many. I was no fan of Obama but you won't see me waving any right wing smear articles when he dies. It's called respect Please. That article you posted was full of distortions.... Willie Horton ad: nothing in that T.V ad was lying. If Horton hadnt been furloughed, those crimes wouldn't have happened. Period. His skin color is irrelevant and people had a right to know about it. First Gulf War: This was a coalition involving 35 Nations making it the largest military alliance since WWII. It was not "Bush's War" and is in no way comparable to Jr's little Iraq fuck up. The war on drugs was started in the 70s and continued for decades. This was not some phony Bush war on black people like your ignorant writer tries to suggest. So once again, take your ignorant ramblings and shove them up your foreign ass.
You've got to be kidding me. Did you miss this part? Those are real, tangible things Bush did to exacerbate the AIDS crisis. If any president fucked over cancer patients similarly, I'd happily criticize them as well.
