Why do you say that I diss the New Testament?
I have been very strong in advocating for New Testament morality.

    BUT.

If there are loopholes that I can use to my advantage then I can conclude that Jesus meant to allow me to do so.

    na... read again.
    not sure where you got
"the position that the libertarians own or originated"

    from
"when did it become "the libertarian" position?

as in a philosophically unique or a defining characteristic of the philosophy? "

especially when we've seen countless times "libertarians" here supporting either the DP or use of lethal force by state agents.

given the context of FFCCNM being the speaker, it's not an unreasonable presumption that he was implying an exclusive/original position. This is a guy who has equivocated antifascism with actual fascism in the past, after all.

No true Scotsman would ever say "No true Scotsman" sans irony.

I can't find the quote, but David Ben Gurion supposedly said (after an exceptionally long wrangle in the Knesset): "Put two Israelis in a room and you come out with three arguments."

The beauty of online "libertarians" is that they don't ever agree among themselves. "No, it's this..." "No, it's that." "No, you're both wrong; it's this other thing."

    Except about guns, of course.

I think forcing someone to spend decades in a prison they’ll never leave is a fitting punishment. They can’t hurt anyone and will never know a moment of freedom, they can’t even shit alone.

Killing them is only a punishment if Hell actually exists and it probably doesn’t.

Plus, if it turns out that they're wrongfully convicted (it's certainly been known to happen) at least they're alive and can be set free.

That's what's most reprehensible about Daytard's cheerleading for capital punishment.

Do you have any idea how many people in prison have murdered other people in prison?

I proposed life in prison in solitary confinement as an alternative to the death penalty and the people here just went crazy over how cruel it (supposedly) would be.

If one is alive, then being alive is the default position, and doesn't need to be argued or justified, because that's how burden of proof works. A better way to go about this argument would be for you to state why you believe these "monsters" deserve to die, and everyone to counter-argue that point, or even phrase the question "Explain why these monsters should not be executed?"

I think you did this on purpose in an attempt to trip people up. However, I have no evidence to support this so my hunches don't matter. Just throwing it out there.

according to this article statistically it's safer behind bars than on the streets. Bear in mind they only factor in homicide, not general physical attacks.

"The homicide rate in local jails nationwide hovered around 3 inmates per 100,000 between 2000 and 2010, according to data from the Bureau of Justice Statistics. (There are too few jail inmates in the district to generate a useful Washington-specific figure.) The overall murder rate in Washington in 2011 was 17.5 per 100,000, which means free people in the nation’s capital are more than five times more likely to be murdered than inmates. Before you flee the district, though, keep in mind that local jails boast a lower murder rate than most places. Nationwide, there were 4.7 murders per 100,000 people in 2011, making local jails and state prisons safer than the average American town.

Of course prison is safer than on the outside. But that doesn't mean anything. Inmates are in a controlled environment with their freedoms extremely limited, literally living in the presence of law enforcement personnel.

They shouldn't be able to murder ANYONE given those conditions.

Honestly, it would seem to be a lot harder to actually kill in jail. In jail you don't have guns and it is harder to keep deadly weapons like knives. You would probably have guards or people interfere if you tried to beat someone to death a lot sooner than if you chose a remote location outside to do it. One might say that it was clear evidence that an accomplished ban on firearms and most dangerous weapons actually makes it much harder to kill people and lowers the homicide rate drastically.

Oh, but we wouldn't want to shit on the idea that everyone having guns and weapons makes things safer, because that is why prisons are so safe with all those murderers and violent offenders around.

No. I want to execute the worst of the murderers before they can kill anyone else.

Remember PeeWee Gaskins? Serial killer. Murdered two more people in prison. Finally executed for the second one. He hasn't killed anyone since.
