Supposedly the space force will headquarter at Redstone/Huntsville. I'm betting much of their workload will be civilian contracted out at some point. That area is knee-deep in holy shit smart experienced educated former military contractors. Good luck keeping any sharp folks in the military if this thing is a success. As it is a lot of single army guys jump ship once their first contract is up to make the big contractor money. Contractors can focus completely on one complex, evolving proprietary system whereas military (especially the army) are pulled in different directions on any given day or week. Also the military are transferred frequently so there is a learning curve or worse they take their technical skillset where they can rarely use them, depending on what position they will be serving in at their new location. Regardless, big opportunities will open up for a lot of people and Huntsville's economy will grow even bigger. Trump might gain a lot of new voters (Boo! Hiss! Throw the bum out!)
and again I called it. Why reinvent the wheel? Pick a military branch be it Marines, Army, etc. and just make different patches. BTW having Velcro so patches and tags can be quickly/cheaply swapped is probably the best thing the army ever did with their uniforms. Okay maybe getting rid of those black leather boots you had to shine and switching to suede might be the very best thing. And we won't even talk about the FUBAR black beret as the go-to hat AKA "Shinseki's folly". Well it was certainly after NASA and it’s logo was created which is where the inspiration for the Star Trek delta came from.

I must admit that @Forbin is correct. Even a stopped clock is right twice daily. The logo is not entirely new, and no one shit the bed when the original Space Command insignia was released over 30 years ago. Of course, in 1982 we didn't have a world-wide network where losers with nothing better to do could gripe about every perceived injustice. And post cat pictures.
