Great episode but a missed opportunity for Ahsoka to have a chat with Luke Skywalker about his father.

I assume they met at some point during Luke's time with the Rebellion or after Endor but I would have liked to have seen it on film.

I know that isn't the focus of this show but it would have been a nice moment.

CGI Luke was okay. I bought it. If he was on screen longer it would probably have started to look weird. I thought it was pulled off better than Leia in Rogue One. This is really opening the door to bring back all sorts of characters and actors from Hollywood's past.

How is Bib Fortuna still alive? Didn't he die when Jabba's sail barge went down in flames? Speaking of that, how did Boba Fett survive the Sarlaac Pit?

Since Ahsoka sent Grogu to make the "call" to a Jedi, it stands to reason that she doesn't consider herself an actual Jedi and that she would not hear that call once Grogu actually made it.

The main possibilities were a. payoff on the call with Luke b. payoff on the call with a completely new Jedi c. payoff on the call with a Jedi that had been established in non-live action previously and d. no payoff on the call.

The thought went through my head at first when the X-wing showed up it was going to be one of the fighters who tried to pull Mando over a few eps back, that they had tracked him somehow for reasons, and that there would be a bunch more ships showing up shortly.

Not necessarily, when Ben/Kylo went Sith, it was about 18-20 years after this episode. He killed most of the students at the Jedi Academy. Baby Yoda/Grogu could have very well become a Jedi by then, or he could have left the order, and technically wouldn't be a Jedi, but still have the powers of one.

Nailed it! That was amazing! As soon as the one lone X-Wing showed up I knew it was Luke. I teared up a little. Then when R2 showed up, I really lost it. Absolutely fantastic!

Question: In the credits it obviously credited Mark Hamil for the role and the voice sounded like young Mark Hamil, do we know for sure it was voiced by Mark Hamil because he doesn’t quite sound like that anymore? I’m hearing that Sabastian Stan might have been used as a stand in.

Actually, the coolest way to go would have been for Leia to show up. I know, much harder and perhaps impossible to do well. But if they could..

I still say they should use Billy Lourd if they’re going to do that.

I'd buy that without the CGI

Eh, I can see the relationship but without CGI, I'm not going to buy that Billie is Carrie. I mean, they're about the same age as Carrie was during the OT but this doesn't look like Billie to me.

In the same way that the cast of the Solo movie were passable for their counterparts in the OT.

Not so much. Billie Lourd, with CGI enhancements , could pass as Leah kind of like the guy they used for Tarkin in R1. The cast they used for Solo were passable, but only in that James McAvoy passes for a younger Patrick Stewart.

Ever seen Julian Lennon in his late 20s/early 30s? Probably could have passed as John in a biopic or something.

Eh. He looked close but when I saw a picture of Val Kilmer as Jim Morrison next to a pic of Jim, I had trouble telling who was who. Without CGI, I'm going to know if it's Billie or Carrie.

Sure. Val Kilmer nailed it in The Doors. I’d also chalk that up to his acting. Not to mention his portrayal was based on the remaining members had said about Jim along with what the book We’ll Never Get Out if This Alive said. Lightening in a bottle if you will.

Also that movie was supervised by The Doors autobiographer who lived during the time of The Doors and had personally interviewed them.

Save for the fact that I was a big Doors fan and was reading an article about the movie that had yet to be released when I was trying to figure out if I was looking a picture of Val or of Jim. So, if a guy who'd read No One Here Gets Out Alive several years before the movie was released (and had done things to model himself after Jim) and had been a fan of The Doors before Sugarman's bio had been published (that's a link to the post-movie version because that's Amazon for ya) couldn't tell the difference between a still pic of Val and Jim, whats that tell ya?

It was stated that the crate dragon they killed in the first episode of the season was the saralac's natural predator and implied that the dragon attacked that particular sarlac at an opportune time for Boba to make his escape.

Krayt Dragon, but yeah, the rest is spot on. One of those words that you would assume was spelled differently if you hadn't seen it in print. I hate those. :D

I think they would have had to write that differently though as to make it make sense. After all, she had already rejecting teaching the child, and it would have made the entire scene at the temple at Tython irrelevant.

Luke was the one active Jedi we knew of, and everyone would be overjoyed to see. And great to have Mark Hamill at least lend his voice to the character again.

Though I would have loved to have seen Mace Windu... No one ever saw the body after his duel with Palpatine. :D

Sure, that is the basis about half of the EU novels, some warlord trying to take over the role of the Empire.

I've got a different theory about the experiments though.

Pretty much... Or either of the Spocks.
It doesn't have to be perfect and given the choice between that and CGI that will age badly by the time it's released, well...
