We’ve been over this, money does not equal quality filmmaking. The failure is his hack writing and directing. The whole group of the Bad Robot team are hacks, Lindeloff, Kurtzman, Abrams. Orci gets a slight pass because he actually knows Trek and was responsible for what little good Trek moments NuTrek had.

Oh and every subsequent film after TFA made less money than the last of you wanna talk about money. Same goes for Star Trek.

That a movie/franchise is profitable doesn't mean that it is successful creatively, and that it is successful creatively does not mean it is profitable.

The notion that it's Ta-Nahesi Coates doing the writing is intriguing. I don't know if I've actually read his comic book work or much of his real-world work, but hopefully he will get the bad taste out of our collective mouths from Snyder's Supes. Also, the notion of a black writer doing a big-screen, big-budget Superman will likely a. open doors for other diverse writers b. bring a different perspective and some flavor to what has generally been a pretty bland landscape and c. cause enough hue and cry from the alt-right contingent as to cause enough amusement to make the film inherently worth my $12 no matter how crappy it inherently is.

Actually can't think of a female villain for Captain Marvel in the comics . . .

But yeah, a host for Mr. Mind or Sivana's daughter would make sense.
