Amber Heard is working out getting ready to be Mera again for Aquaman 2.

Boy, Amber heard must be really complicated to process for CHUDs.

On the one hand, she cares not one fiddler's fuck about what social media thinks of her, and Warners doesn't seem to give a shit either.
Exact opposite of Gina Caranos' whining and blubbering, and Disney's treating her like nuclear waste.

BUT, she is a toxic harpy.
Like, what CHUDs think all women are, she actually is!

Love her, hate her, what to do?
    What to do?
    What. To. Do?

Not give two shits about it as long as her version of Mera is good?

Boy, you would be left with very little to say if not for horseshit like that. Are you paid to inoculate strangers against criticism, or is the salty taint sweat compensation enough? :jayzus:

The JJ Abrams produced Superman reboot will be Elseworlds like "Joker" and "The Batman" and have the black Superman from the latest multiverse comics.

Hey, you HAD a black Superman, he was called Icon!

Technically Icon was a Superman expy, not a "black Superman." Like a lot of other flight/superstrength/invulnerable characters out there. I have that Earth-2 series and have enjoyed it quite a bit. The Superman character from that, IIRC, is another Kryptonian? I don't recall the details now but I remember liking the take on the character.

I just started watching the animated Harley Quinn series and it's fucking hilarious.

The heck with Margot Robbie... get Kaley Cuoco and Lake Bell and I'm totally in.

Birds of Prey was crap. Sexist crap at that.

One, there wasn't a single even neutral male character. They were all evil. The only one that wasn't was in the past and had no role in the current story. Hollywood has absolutely been misogynist many a time, but I can't think there's ever been a time they rolled out a bunch of male characters and had them face off against women and every single woman was evil. Even when Harley killed men that she didn't know anything about, it turned out later that they were evil so it was OK. Jesus.

Two, one of the central plot points was you should never return to your abuser. In the context of Harly and Mister J, that's absolutely valid, and needed to be included. But then they undermined that - Harley was ready to turn over the girl who ate the diamond that is the plot macguffin, and is at one point clearly plans to turn her over to Sionis who she knows will cut open the girls entrails to get the diamond instead of wait. I'd say that qualifies as all sort of abuse. But instead they ride off into the sunset as besties. So if a man abuses you, get the hell out, but if a woman does, give her another chance, she might have a heart of gold.

That's on top of being a pretty shitty take on Black Mask, Zsasj, Cassandra Cain, and Renee Montoya. All of those characters deserved better.

Loved Harley in Suicide Squad, we'll see if they have better writing for her in the sequel.

And yeah, I agree I'd love to see Poison Ivy done well.

For a studio that owns the comics and has a vast suite of writers, damn do they choose to film a lot of shitty scripts - as IIRC the last time we saw Poison Ivy was Batman and Robin.

I don't get the love for Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn (other than the obvious sexual appeal).

All the DC movies she's been in have sucked balls.

I'm dead serious. Do a complete reset on the character. It's not like it hasn't been done dozens of times before.

Get the writers from the Harley Quinn animated series and make a live-action film with Kaley Cuoco and Lake Bell.

Margot has producer power on everything with Harley in it, so they can't fire her.
As far as the suits and the paperwork are concerned, she owns the role like Arnold and Terminator.
Only way you're getting a Kaley Cuoco Harley movie is if they do an animated one.

The diner guy who made the good breakfast sandwiches was good, or at least neutral. There were some cops who didn't actively do anything evil but still got taken out by Harley because they were in her way.

I am too lazy to think too deeply on it, but I am fairly sure there are movies where pretty much all the women are evil.

Harley being willing to sell Cassandra out to Black Mask isn't the same as returning to an abuser. It's a bad act, but of course, Harley doesn't go through with it and is a bad guy who evolves into an anti-hero.

No question that all the characters who are not Harley got pretty shitty takes and deserved better. Is there a reason why Black Canary was left off your list?

How could I have forgotten Sal, the sandwich guy? Oh, right, he's a non-factor in the story and his face is onscreen for about 5 seconds. There's also a nice black man that let's Harley walk through his shop, that's on screen for 2 seconds. :D

So technically, yes, you are right. I should have phrased it 'there are no positive male portrayals of anything other than bystanders.' Notice those two guys don't even have lines of dialogue.

Movie? Probably, some exploitation films. A Hollywood movie, meaning something from the big studios? If so, not in a long, long time.

I disagree - she tells the kid that's what she's going to do. That's pretty damn abusive, even if she ultimately changes her mind. The kid definitely thinks she's going to be vivisected due to Harley's actions.

Here we definitely agree. And yes, Black Canary absolutely should have been better. DC doesn't always do a good job of representing their characters. They jam a name in a script that doesn't fit.

Hell, in Longbow Hunters Dinah is tortured and broken by mob types. If you wanted a take on male cruelty to women, she would have been the perfect character to include as originally written.

But then, people would wonder where Green Arrow was, and you can't have them thinking about positive male characters in a women's revenge fantasy story.

All the DC movies she's been in have sucked, but she's been pretty good, if not the best part of them.

She does convey the crazysexycool that is supposed to be the character. I'm not sure what more could have been asked of her, or what flaws there are in her actual performance, as opposed to various aspects of the films that are outside her control.

Eh, it's more about doing a complete reset with something that has the potential to be good.

Keeping the same actor, now matter how half-decent she was, would just remind of me of the previous train wrecks.
