Me too. She has a martyr complex, but is likely rooted as a coping mechanism. I’ve disagreed more and more with her over the years (I remember the kind soul from 20 years ago on TBBS), but I’m not going to kick a puppy that has been hit by a car. Plenty of other people here worth kicking.
You just parrot all their buzzwords, memes, and hot takes is all. Hey! But not the n-bomb, so it doesn't count!
I agree she should spend less time on the Internet, but it might be the only outlet she has. Not sure how much you know about her family obligations, but they'd break the back of any ordinary human. That she's endured this long without snapping is remarkable.
Yup. I get her life is shitty, and I sympathize. If my life was that shitty and I had the number of online friends that Amaris had at her peak, I'd have tried to leverage that into help getting a decent job and a new start somewhere less awful. Instead they spent their energy becoming a militant pansexual transgender anti-democracy anti-voting communist, and personally attacking anyone who disagreed with that world view, including and especially their longtime IRL friends. It's not the biggest thing, but it really stuck out to me that over the last year that Amaris suddenly couldn't be bothered to remember I'm Canadian, no matter how many times I reminded her. We knew each other for almost two decades and I considered her a friend for almost as long, then one day she could no longer be bothered to retain this small basic personal detail. That's not the same John Allen I knew.
You have a record of refusing to believe anyone you're fond of is a Nazi, simply because you're fond of them. When we're identifying Nazis, your opinion doesn't carry too much weight.
Hey, remember when there was a thread about how Storm had turned into (or always was) a full fledged Nazi and amazingly The Kid managed to make the thread about them for a bit, inviting everyone to pile on, and some folks said ‘DUDE! This is why you get piled on! You constantly insert yourself into shit you don’t need to be in.’ I remember.
Thinking about Amaris and her downfall is so depressing, though. I used to describe John Allen to people by saying "Imagine if I was a much better person and also had computer skills." I kind of appreciate the distraction, to he honest.
Goes both ways, bud. You guys use the term Nazi so lightly that basically applies to anyone on the right so your opinion doesn’t carry much weight either. How about you try going on Doomcock’s channel and do a little research and tell me specifically what you think makes him a Nazi. Or you can just continue to mindlessly slap labels on people and paint with a broad brush.
Oh, I don't give a fuck about any YouTubers, and I absolutely refuse to learn about DomCuck guy either way. I'm just referring to your own history. Edit: Okay, I do like Poppy. But only for creepiness, not the music.
I recall Amaris/J.Allen/whatever being a pretty decent person to talk to back in the day. Not sure what set this whole thing off. I thought the discussions here about white supremacists, etc. were actually pretty decent. You can't blame people if they don't want to be anarcho-communists, though. It's just not a practical philosophy when you have kids and a family and shit.
Then STFU. You know how many insults get thrown at me on this board? You see me acting like a child every god damn time? No, I act like an adult and fucking ignore it. Seriously man. Grow the fuck up.
Go post in other threads. Or take the Ancalagon Approach: "I am the Superior Intellect who uses WF as my own personal echo chamber."
I'm a firm believer in the need to be not just "not racist" but also actively anti-racist, but everything Amaris posted reeked of performative wokeness and hostility. I couldn't shake the mental image of Amaris trying desperately to charm the pants off a cute black lesbian by showing her that thread. "C'mon baby, I even called the author of Catalyst Of Sorrows a white supremacist! What else can I do to prove I'm an ally who deserves sex as a reward?" *And while I do agree that Lanzman was selectively quoting MLK insincerely, Amaris was pushing the argument that she was the only one allowed to quote or cite black people back in the summer as well.
I guess I missed that part. Doesn't change my attitude that Amaris is essentially a good person, and that sometimes extreme swings of the pendulum are necessary for someone to stop and say "Okay, this is who I am." I just hope nothing more drastic than ditching an Internet persona is in the offing.
