Jesus wept. I had to wade through thirty fucking stories about these two spoiled brats in my news feed this morning before I got to some actual news. Can't Harry and Meghan just completely sever ties with the Royal Family (i.e., renounce his claim to the throne so he's no longer a prince)? They can live in L.A., Meghan can continue her acting career and Harry can sell dope to school kids.
There's been a lot in the news lately about Harry and Meghan. Did they really get bad treatment from the Royal Family or they are being spoiled whiners? What's your take?
This whole thing just underscores how out of date and useless the concept of a monarchy is. That we're even wasting our time on these poor people who have been cast out to live a meager life in a $14.5 million mansion is just ugh Also, they wanted to get away from the racism in the monarchy so they moved to.......America? Ok
Here's a compilation of the British media being shitty towards Meghan while flattering Kate for the exact same things. https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/ellievhall/meghan-markle-kate-middleton-double-standards-royal And highlights from the interview that aired yesterday. https://www.buzzfeed.com/natashajokic1/harry-meghan-interview-recap Harry knows he'll never have to be king, and neither will any of his heirs. Absent that sort of responsibility, why would he stick around a family and a press and a country that's so determined to treat his wife and kids like shit? Especially after what they all did to his mother.
This touches on one of the two things I can muster interest in commenting on about this whole affair. Spoilt or not Harry has in no sense chosen to be born into the royal dynasty but his early life was defined by the destructive nature of the tabloid press. He has since been coached on how to court them and their attention (as all royals are) but you can't look at his decisions without considering them through the lens of Diana's death. The press, Piers Morgan included by the way, literally hounded her to death then profited even further from publicly milking the tragedy. When his behaviour and attitudes to his public role are considered don't overlook that the archaic, absurd, institution of the monarchy and it's bottom feeders in the tabloids who presume to judge have in many ways earned his disgust. No amount of money or mansions will ever offset that, whether asked for or not. As for the comment upthread (I forgot who made it) about royal obligations trumping his basic rights, does that also apply to Charles's conservation work? Is he overstepping some special line by promoting a green agenda? How about Diana raising awareness about HIV? Was she not challenging a conservative line which held AIDS was God's punishment for homosexuality? The idea the royals are in any real sense apolitical is tosh. As public figures they may have certain duties and codes to abide by but the reality is that every decision, every choice they make, every charity they endorse or diplomatic mission they engage in, every public statement they make, all of it is inevitably going to have some grain of bias in there. Even where they act scrupulously to avoid that (though I'd question the fundamental premise that an inherited obligation can be binding) the level of scrutiny they are under will always lend itself to some measure of projection by the viewer. For me it's not about their remaining apolitical so much as limiting the amplification lent to them by an unelected and unearned public platform.
Today on Twitter, I learned Diana threw herself down a flight of stairs while pregnant the first time because she was that depressed and suicidal. If ayone thinks his mum didn't factor into this decision, I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you for dirt cheap.
Proof that your country's health care system is fucked. Canadians laugh at your drug ads, too. How the hell is it legal for pharmaceutical companies to advertise prescription medication? Disclaimer: this post may cause bleeding from the eyes, severe nausea, vomiting, verbal diarrhea and death.
Couple announces they want to step out of the spotlight via an interview with the brightest fucking spotlight possible: Oprah.
Here's the thing. The type of spotlight Meghan was expecting in the Royal Family was probably the view she'd grown up with, of pretty dresses, castles, jewels, banquets. When she married into the family, she probably never realised how dysfunctional it was, and how much racist views are likely everyday comments for some of them. Also, once it became clear how contemptuously vicious the UK press can be, she probably swallowed hard. Not to mention that the real purpose of the Royal Family within is DUTY DUTY DUTY. You immediately become a piece of public property. Part of me doesn't blame them for cutting and running. A larger part has had a gutful of them a longtime ago. I mean, a sit down interview with Oprah in which they "reveal" the family is dysfunctional and holds deeply ingrained racist views is several thousand miles from a revelation. Coming from the lips of Harry it might be considered to be - but then he was always likely to be the one who trod his own path. Especially given that his parentage is highly unlikely to be Royal at all. He sat there as a kid watching our media savage his mother and pursue her into a premature death. Can't blame him for legging it, even if the result of wanting a different type of publicity seems somewhat ironic.
I actually didn't even know Meghan was mixed race until this story (I've never really cared enough about the royals to follow much news about them). But I do agree it's hard to blame her and her husband for leaving a life where she faced racism and prejudice targeted at her and her child.
HEY! Don't bust on the lawyer ads! Georgia REPRESENT!!!! Mike Is BACK In Full Effect: Mike Hostilo Law Firm - YouTube
why are you online right now? Shouldn't you be basking in afterglow and having pillow talk with Justin Bieber?
Warning to @Fisherman's Worf for doxing @Faceman. (Yeah, I know he's in California, but this is his side gig.)
Hell YES! Assuming he does more than just routine DUI stuff he's the guy I need for my upcoming "conspiracy to commit statutory aggravated buffoonery with intent to distribute" railroading Georgia is trying to slam me with.
Come on you daffy english Knigits, get with the new royal program. The US royal Kardasians don't give a fuck about brown people in the family. They came from OJ and put up with Kanye. Get your shit together UK, even Trump plays around with Kanye. You are worried about gingers and hispanics in your tea and crumpets. Queen Karen and her court need to be cancelled.
